The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan hosted a round table on ""United Nations - Central Asia: Historical, Economic and Social Aspects of Enhancing Regional Integration"". The UN Resident Coordinator, UNDP Resident Representative in Turkmenistan E. Panova, Political Adviser of the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia A. Tolstukhin, heads of the diplomatic missions accredited in the country took part in the meeting. The Turkmen side was represented by the UN Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan, heads of public organizations. It was emphasized that Turkmenistan was striving to expand the dialogue within the UN framework. The importance of constructive initiatives of the Turkmen leader for integration and sustainable development, strengthening of peace, stability and security in Central Asia was noted. The exchange of views took place on the implementation of the goals of sustainable development, the importance of preventive diplomacy in strengthening the partnership in Central Asia, the role of the revived in its new quality the Great Silk Road in the development of interregional interaction, aspects of the work of the UN Children's Fund and Turkmenistan's contribution to the expansion of international relations were discussed. It was noted that the talks held on June 13 in Ashgabat between President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov and UN Secretary General António Guterres was the evidence of effective cooperation. The partnership between Turkmenistan and the Community of Nations has the active and effective character, having absorbed a wide range of directions; joint projects are being implemented that develop economic cooperation with the countries of the region.
