Today, a pontoon bridge across the Amu Darya that connected Khalach (Daihan Association ""Pehlwert"" ) and Khojambaz (Daihan Association ""Mekan"") etraps was commissioned in the Lebap velayat. On the instructions of President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov, members of Turkmenistan government and deputies of the Mejlis attended the celebrations on the occasion of this event. On behalf of the head of the state, the khyakim of the Lebap velayat greeted the audience, congratulating the local residents on the commissioning of the overpass bridge. Pontoon crossing creates great convenience for the villagers of the Khojambaz Etrap. Now they can, after moving across the Amu Darya to the railway station Pelwerth, by train or by road, continue their trip to the administrative center of the velayat, the capital of Turkmenistan and other regions of the country. Time for such trips for residents of the etrap, where more than 74 thousand people live, is significantly reduced, whereas before they had to first reach Farab or to Kerkichi station, spending many hours to use this well-developed transport network on the left bank of the Amu Darya River. Among the residents of the two etraps along the river banks there are many relatives who used to travel to each other by district roads. In addition to social significance, the new bridge also has great economic importance for the right bank etrap, development of its logistics system. With a multiple reduction in the transportation route, the delivery of various national economic goods, primarily construction and agricultural goods will accelerate. Over the past few years, two new secondary schools have been commissioned in the Khojambaz Etrap each with 640 beds, 6 kindergartens, two sports schools, modern water intake facilities, and construction of social and economic facilities continues. Therefore, the ferry across the Amu Darya became an important part of the transport scheme for providing material resources for active construction in local villages. On behalf of the head of the state, the workers of the pontoon bridge were given valuable gifts. This logistics project was implemented by specialists of the Turkmenabat PA ""Deryayollary"" of the State Service of Maritime and River Transport of Turkmenistan, who in a matter of months carried out qualitatively the whole complex of works on bridge assembly. It consists of 10 barge pontoons and 26 span structures with a carrying capacity of 36 tons. The length of the bridge is 842 meters, the width of the carriageway is 7.5 meters and the fenced pedestrian passage is about 1 meter. All technological measures to ensure the operational safety of the bridge, including round-the-clock duty of two tugboats and one dredger, are envisaged. Thus, the banks of the Amu Darya are now connected at all sites where there is a need for active transport, which also significantly reduced logistics costs and increased the region's capacity, its transit potential and its role in increasing export flows. The celebration continues with a festive performance. Then the aksakals cut the symbolic ribbon. At this time, the armfuls of balloons soar into the sky. Folk groups that demonstrated Turkmen customs greeted the gray-bearded elders, women of venerable age on the bridge, during which the participants of the celebration were greeted with colorful rituals. Then traffic was opened on the ferry. At the beginning of the column, respected aksakals, veterans of labor with their grandsons and granddaughters rode on colorfully decorated passenger cars. They were followed by powerful trucks, carrying construction materials for construction of new facilities, potash and superphosphate fertilizers, agricultural products, equipment, etc. On the right bank this caravan was solemnly greeted with bread and salt, songs and music. Having met the delegation from the left bank, residents of the right bank of the Amu Darya, in turn, begin the procession to the other side of the river. Here was demonstrated a beautiful wedding ritual ""gelin alydzhy"", a deep symbolism that gave the fact that the bride was a native of Khodjambaz, and the guy - from Khalach. The wedding ""train"", which consists from snow-white cars decorated with bright bows, ribbons and headscarves goes to the other shore. The birth of a new family has become a wonderful embodiment of the main purpose of all bridges: to connect people.
