Mejlis of Turkmenistan hosted a meeting with members of representative delegation of the People’s Republic of China, arrived on a working visit, headed by Deputy Chairman of the P.R.C. National People’s Congress, General Secretary of its Standing Committee, Mr. Wang Chen. During the meeting, it was emphasized the importance of inter-parliamentary interaction, designed to serve the development of the Turkmen-Chinese relations in the context of the plans, coordinated by the countries’ leaders – President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov and P.R.C. President Xi Jinping – during the reciprocal state visits in 2013 and 2014. The package of documents, signed at that time, has identified new vectors of partnership, particularly in transport-and-transit sector, energy and industry, humanitarian sphere. Steps are taken to extend the contractual basis, promoting the development of dialogue between the parliaments. Bilateral meetings and visits, the establishment of inter-parliamentary friendly group of Mejlis of Turkmenistan and the P.R.C. National People’s Congress are being an example. The traditions of friendship and mutual understanding, supported by regular contacts at various levels serve as a foundation for the expansion of relations. A scientific-practical conference, cultural and sports events, held this year in Turkmenistan and China within the framework of co-operative activities on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations, testify to it. Special attention was paid to holding of the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in the Turkmen capital in this year’s September. Guests were also informed about the Mejlis activities.
