Turkmenistan will develop the Anti-Corruption and Bribery Program. The relevant task was assigned by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the State Security Council and the National Parliament of Turkmenistan. Speaking at the Government session that reviewed the results of the country’s socioeconomic development in the four months of this year, the head of state noted that the outcomes of conducted inspections revealed the facts of bribery and corruption among the law enforcement officials, and in other agencies. The President stressed that bribery and corruption are detrimental to the effectiveness of state structures and the society; lead to slowdown of economic growth rates; and seriously hinder the state development. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov stated that, with the purpose of fighting bribery and corruption, the State Security Council together with the National Parliament of Turkmenistan were tasked with the development, in a short time, of Anti-Corruption and Bribery Program and its submission for approval. According to the head of state, the primary objective of this Program is to eliminate, in the society, the causes and factors leading to corruption. The President of Turkmenistan also spoke in favor of reviewing the relevant legislation and increasing penalties for bribery and corruption. The President stated that it would be right to consider, in the relevant legislation, the revocation of pardon for persons convicted of bribery.
