At the 51st International Mendeleev Olympiad in Chemistry, held on April 23-30 in the Kazakh capital, Turkmen schoolchildren won silver and bronze medals. 120 young chemists from 20 countries - Europe, Asia, the CIS, the Baltics, etc., came to Astana to participate in it. The Olympics, the Organizing Committee of which is headed by Academician V.Lunin - the dean of the chemical faculty of the Moscow State University named after M.Lomonosov - was held in three rounds: two theoretical and one practical - the experimental part of the competition. As a result, Serdar Begenjov, a pupil of the 11th class of the State boarding school for gifted children, became a silver medalist. The third place and the bronze award was won by the 11-grader of the specialized secondary school No. 57 with in-depth study of the English language of the city of Ashgabat, Intizar Tashov. The Turkmen team in the Olympiad included two more Ashgabat tenth-graders, which during these prestigious competitions gained good experience for future victories. Today, members of this group who returned to their homeland were honored at the State Boarding School for gifted children. Recently, students of the State Power Institute took part in the Open International Internet Olympiad in the subjects ""Economics"", ""Theoretical Mechanics"", ""Informatics"", ""Metal Resistance"", ""Ecology"", ""Statistics"" in the format of computer on-line testing. According to the results of disciplinary testing, they were awarded 7 medals: 4 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze medals. The Olympiad was organized by the Research Institute for Monitoring the Quality of Education and the National Fund for Support of Innovations in Education of the Russian Federation.
