The guest expressed his gratitude for the cordial welcome and conveyed to the Turkmen leader the greetings from the Emperor of Japan, Akihito, and the Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe, who wished happiness, well-being and new outstanding victories to the people of friendly Turkmenistan. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, in return, addresses his best wishes to the top leadership of Japan. During the meeting, the Turkmen leader and his guest exchanged views on various areas of cooperation of the two countries, including multilateral partnership, specifically, within major international organizations and structures. Noting the proximity or similarity of views on a range of issues of international politics, Mr. Fumio Kishida stressed the Land of the Rising Sun supports the peaceful foreign policy pursued by independent and neutral Turkmenistan, as well as the important international initiatives put forward by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and targeted at strengthening security on the global and regional scale. Japan expresses its full readiness to developed the established cooperation and continue efforts together with the Central Asian countries to ensure stability and sustainable development. The “Central Asia + Japan” Dialogue that is being actively developed serves as evidence to that, and Turkmenistan has been chairing the Dialogue since 2014. Consequently, issues on the agenda of the upcoming 6th session of the heads of foreign ministries of the member states of “Central Asia + Japan” Dialogue to be held in Ashgabat have become a particular subject at the meeting. Speaking of the mutual strive for the comprehensive expansion of the efficient partnership established in the recent years, and, as is known, this year Turkmenistan and Japan celebrate the 25th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, the National Leader and his guest expressed their confidence in the great future of the mutually beneficial cooperation built with due account for the existing significant potential. It was noted that the innovatory transformative programs and major reforms implemented upon the initiative of the National Leader not only allow Turkmenistan to maintain high rates of economic growth, but also make Turkmenistan more attractive for foreign investors. Therefore, great emphasis was placed on the opportunities for the development of commercial and economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation that serves as a basis for the years-long successful interstate dialog.
