On behalf of President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov, Chairperson of Mejlis of Turkmenistan A. Nurberdyeva has accepted credentials from Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Hungary to Turkmenistan Peter Santo. In the course of the meeting, the diplomat was introduced to the major trends of Turkmenistan’s state policy, and the ongoing large-scale socio-economic reforms, aimed at improving the nation’s wellbeing and quality of life. The Hungarian diplomat was also acquainted with the structure and multifaceted activity of Mejlis. Speaking of the prospects for the development of relations between Turkmenistan and Hungary, and the untapped potential of bilateral partnership, Mr. Peter Santo highlighted his country’s interest in advancing the interstate dialogue. During an exchange of opinions, the parties recognized the importance of enhancing Turkmen-Hungarian cooperation in the trade-economic sphere, the energy sector, pharmaceutical and food industries, agriculture and water-resources management, as well as in education, science, health and tourism. A special theme of the discussion was the issues of strengthening partnership in sport in the light of our country’s preparations for the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in this year’s September. The parties also discussed the cultural dialogue advancement. Special emphasis was placed on the importance of developing interparliamentary ties. *** Today the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Hungary to Turkmenistan was also received in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. During his visit to Ashgabat, the diplomat will also hold meetings in the Ministry of Economy and Development, the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Economy, the Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations, and the Ministry of Energy.
