Specialists of the “Turkmen atlary” State Association, Ministry of Culture, State Committee for television and radio took part in organization of this campaign. From year to year, the competition for the best display of Akhalteke racers’ beauty has involved an increasing number of artists. Each regular exhibit is gratifying by unexpected creative discoveries, unveilings of new facets of the wonderful image, fresh perspective giving warmth and gladness. It is obvious that the Akhalteke horse with its grace, agility, and native wit sustains artists by an unquenchable inspiration. Because complementary to the external beauty of these amazing creatures, they enwomb the huge energy, mighty spirit and will. Exhibition hall of the Academy of Arts, where the main character is the “heavenly” horse, today is similar to countless fabulous tabun. Horses are everywhere – gypsum, flying up skyward like birds, strong and graceful, metal-cast, facile and kind, carved from wood and woven on carpets and tapestries. However, most of Akhalteke horses are in picturesque canvases – charming, sophisticated, hedged round with love of man, and responding to this love by deep devotion. Turkmen artists presented their views on image of a horse as a peerless beauty standard, admiration and worship, and triumph of perfection. At all times, the thin-limbed “heavenly” racer was valued for the rare point, faithfulness to master, a willingness to share hardships and triumph with him, and something else that eludes explanation. To express it by art was the task, stood in front of each contestant, among whom were both the recognized masters and beginning artists. The number instead of an author’s name gave the award panel an opportunity to reach a verdict impartially. This year, the competition exhibition differs from the previous ones by number of peculiarities. For example, the historical context of the Akhalteke image was more vividly revealed, sports theme became very apparent, and it is, of course, due to the forthcoming V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, which program includes the show-jumping, thanks to the personal merit of President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov. If formerly in the images of horses, there were more static figures then now many authors prefer the dynamics, expression of form, color and composition. That only increased the artistic value of works, staginess of exposition. Interesting trends emerged in ceramics, which distinctly seeks to “speak” the sculpture language. Photography section is greatly expanded, where artists, designers try themselves, pushing the boundaries of traditional genres. All of this testifies eloquently the active creative search, an unquenchable interest of painters, graphic artists, sculptors and application engineers to the display of Akhalteke horse. Horses are presented in a variety of guises and plots – alone with nature, in mountains and desert, during watering hole, among spring meadows in rest and in motion, alone and in groups, near the merry children or an Aqsaqal sinking into a reverie. Each piece of work has its own inflection – heartfelt or enthusiastic, pathetic, or romantic, full of warmth or family good humor. The competition, dedicated to the beautiful Akhalteke, is a major event in the creative life of students and teachers of the State Academy of Arts, becoming a big incentive for the development of the fine arts in our country. The competition award panel, which, in addition to our experts, consists of international experts: Tatiana Follet (France), Jean Mu (China), Nurlan Mamyev (Kyrgyzstan), Nadezhda Tarasova (Russia), has the same standpoint. The awarding ceremony of the creative competition for the artistic depiction of the Akhalteke racers’ beauty among painters, sculptors, carpet weavers, jewelers, photographers, publishing professionals, designers, cameramen will be held with participation of President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov during the forthcoming celebrations in honor of Turkmen Horse Day.
