The international seminar «The Caspian sea - a sustainable development and management», organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and state agency for Caspian issues at the President of Turkmenistan together with the International Oceans Institute started its work in the national tourist zone ""Avaza"". Specialists of departments of Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, China, Russia and Turkmenistan, and international experts take part in the action. The program of 10-day training includes thematic modules: «Structure of management of ocean», «Financial mechanisms of efficient control of trans-boundary water resources», «Management tools of our mutual relations with oceans» and «Management of the Caspian sea». The seminar here is held for the fifth time in Avaza according to the Memorandum of Mutual Understanding and Cooperation, signed between the state agency for Caspian issues at the President of Turkmenistan and IOI. Participants were acquainted with positions of the Convention of the United Nations on the Marine Law which was ratified by about 160 states and the European Union. The attention in the first day of the seminar was given to the Goals of development of the third millennium and «Agenda in the field of development for the period up to 2030», accepted in September, last year at the United Nations Summit on sustainable development. Within the seminar the themes, concerning sea biodiversity, management of coastal zones, international law applied at investigation and operation of resources and navigation and others will be considered. The training includes lectures, practical classes, interactive discussions, round tables, presentations.
