Speaking during the press conference on the outcomes of the Ashgabat talks, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev stated that Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan would continue coordinating the efforts to ensure the sustainable development and its integral parts, including energy security, development of the international transport and transit traffic, ecology and environmental protection. With regard to the sustainable energy, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan will participate in the implementation of ambitious projects in the region, in particular the project of Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan-China gas pipeline. The Turkmen leader expressed the willingness to enhance cooperation within the framework of the project on supplying electric power from Central Asia to South Asia along Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan-Tajikistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan route. The leaders of the two states underlined that the meeting in Ashgabat would offer a qualitatively new incentive to cooperation between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. The Presidents discussed the status of the interstate dialogue and exchanged the views on a number of international issues. Bilateral documents on the Turkmen-Uzbek cooperation in the political, trade and economy, cultural and humanitarian spheres were signed during the meeting.
