The Head of the State addressed the greetings to the participants of the conference dedicated to the 25th anniversary of Turkmenistan membership in the United Nations. Being the largest and most competent international structure, the United Nations forms the foundation of modern international relations system and serves as the guarantor in solution of topical issues of the present by political and diplomatic manner and negotiations, - the message says. Having become plenipotentiary and equal member of the United Nations on March 2, 1992, Turkmenistan undertook responsible international obligations, which are strictly followed. Effective foreign policy measures of Turkmenistan meet the interests of broad international community and clearly seen in close cooperation of our country with the United Nations. It is brightly indicated by the election of our state in leading structures of the Organization including multiple election as the Vice- Chairman of the UN General Assembly. At present time, there are several specialized structures of the United Nations in Turkmenistan namely the Representative Offices of the UNDP, the Children’s Fund and the World Health Organization, on Drugs and Crime, Universal Postal Union. Together with the United Nations, we steadily implement different projects and programmes under such cooperation. After the opening of the UN Regional Centre for Preventative Diplomacy for the Central Asia, multilateral cooperation in the region for security and sustainable development was filled with new content. Further modernization of traditional forms of preventative diplomacy has to be undertaken in the combination with the development of more efficient mechanisms. In this context, Turkmenistan provided large support in solution of complex issues of the present time by peaceful political and diplomatic measures. Based on that, we propose the principle of integrity and indivisibility of the global security and stand for its practical realization. Turkmenistan proposed specific initiatives and steadily implements them. These are the regulation of peaceful life in neighbouring Afghanistan, rational use of water and energy resources of the region, natural and environment protection, formation of energy supply infrastructure and transit and transport corridors, which are aimed at provision of sustainable development. This is indicated by the Resolutions adopted by the UN on reliable and sustainable transit of the energy resources to the world’s markets and on sustainable transport Further development of strategic partnership with the United Nations remains key direction of foreign policy of Turkmenistan.
