To ensure the most favorable conditions for promoting Turkmen carpet industry to the next level, it is necessary to carry out privatization. This idea was expressed today at a government meeting by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. It was emphasized that rooted in the mists of the centuries the art of carpet weaving is a national treasure that must be preserved and developed. Public association “Turkmenhaly” includes a large network of companies across the country operating in the art of carpet-making, as well as structural units, specializing in the primary processing, spinning and dyeing of wool. In 2016, the enterprises of “Turkmenhaly” have produced more than 43 thousand square meters of carpets and rugs. Every year in May Turkmenistan celebrates Turkmen Carpet Festival, to which the holding of the International Industrial Exhibition and Conference of the World Association of Connoisseurs of Turkmen handmade carpet is confined.
