During joint session of the Cabinet of Ministers and State Security Council of Turkmenistan, Chairman of the Central Committee for Elections and Referendums in Turkmenistan G. Myradov reported on the results of the elections of the Head of the State. The Head of the Central Elections Committee informed that there were 2 587 polling stations including 2 548 in the capital and the regions and 39 at diplomatic missions and consulates of Turkmenistan in foreign countries. According to the Election Code of Turkmenistan, the Central Elections Committee registered 9 candidates for the highest government position, in particular 3 representatives of the political parties and 9 from initiative groups of the citizens. 3 223 observers for three parties, non-governmental organizations, initiative groups of citizens as well as official representatives of the candidates for the highest government post were registered. Information on the work of international observation in our country, which familiarized with the course of preparation and conduct of the election campaign, was given. It was informed that representatives of competent organizations, in particular the UN, the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights, Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Organization of Islamic Cooperation as well as the CIS Observation Mission headed by Chairman of the Executive Committee, Executive Secretary of the CIS Sergey Lebedev, international and independent observers from USA, the PRC, Turkish Republic, Japan, the Republic of Korea, India, Austria and Malaysia had an opportunity to visit polling stations in the capital and the regions and to familiarize with the course of campaign and receive the evidence of transparency and legitimacy of the elections. After, the results of national referendum were presented. Thus, 97.25 percent of the electorate voted in Ahal Velayat, 96.51 percent in Balkan Velayat, 98.02 in Dashoguz Velayat, 97.07 in Lebap Velayat, 97.15 in Mary Velayat and 97.15 in Ashgabat. Totally across the country, 3 163 692 people out of 3 252 243 or 97.28 percent participated in the lections. By the results of the elections, Deputy Chairman of the State Association of Food Industry Maksat Annanepesov received 1.02 percent, Deputy Hyakim of Mary Velayat Jumanazar Annayev 0.21 percent, Board Director of Rysgal Joint Stock Commercial Bank Bekmurad Ataliyev 0.36 percent, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov 97.69 percent, Director of Seidy Refinery Ramazan Durdiyev 0.15 percent, Deputy Hyakim of Dashoguz Velayat for Agriculture Meretdurdy Gurbanov 0.17 percent, Head of the General Department of Economy and Development of Ahal Velayat Serdar Jelilov 0.25 percent, General Director of Garabogazsulfat Production Association of Balkan Velayat Suleimannepes Nurnepesov 0.09 percent and the Head of Mary Velayat Committee of the Agrarian Party Durdygylych Orazov 0.06 percent. According to the Article 76 of the Election Code of Turkmenistan, the Central Elections Committee announced that candidate Gurbanguly Myalikguliyevich Berdimuhamedov as President of Turkmenistan with an absolute majority of votes (97.69 percent).
