On July 8, 2026, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan hosted the ninth meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Turkmen-Azerbaijani Commission on Economic Cooperation.

The meeting was attended by the chairman and members of the Commission from the Turkmen side, as well as the visiting delegation led by the Minister of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mikayil Jabbarov.

During the meeting, participants noted with satisfaction that consistent efforts by Presidents Serdar Berdimuhamedow and Ilham Aliyev have given a qualitatively new dynamic to the interstate dialogue.

The meeting participants exchanged views on the implementation status of agreements reached during the previous session of the Commission. They also reviewed relevant proposals for further deepening cooperation between the respective ministries, sector departments, and working groups of the two countries.

Meeting participants paid special attention to interstate cooperation metrics in the trade and economic sphere. The annual growth in mutual trade turnover demonstrates the successful development and effectiveness of the partnership in this area.

The meeting analyzed paths to elevate interaction to a new level across various economic sectors, the investment sphere, and advanced technologies. Perspectives on increasing trade volume were also reviewed, and concrete joint action plans were defined. It was noted that holding bilateral meetings and business forums on a regular basis will serve as an effective stimulus to boost mutual trade volume.

Special attention during the talks was dedicated to cooperation in the oil, gas, and power engineering sectors. As emphasized, both countries possess vast hydrocarbon resource reserves. This provides broad prospects for coordinating activities on the global energy market and implementing large-scale infrastructure projects.

In addition, the Commission meeting thoroughly reviewed the current state and prospects of Turkmen-Azerbaijani interaction in the transport, logistics, and transit sectors, as well as in digital development and telecommunications.

Special attention during the Commission meeting was paid to interaction in the cultural and humanitarian sphere. The participants noted mutual interest in deepening contacts in science, the study of history and literary manuscripts, as well as in sports and youth policy.

Furthermore, the sides reviewed opportunities to expand bilateral cooperation in areas such as agriculture, food security, environmental protection, and urban development.

Following the ninth meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Turkmen-Azerbaijani Commission on Economic Cooperation, a corresponding Protocol was signed defining joint steps to boost effective interaction.

During a narrow-format meeting between the delegations of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Azerbaijan, a thorough exchange of views took place regarding directions for the further development of mutually beneficial cooperation and the practical implementation of the agreements reached.
