President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoev congratulated President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov on adoption of the Resolution on declaration of December 12 as International Day of Neutrality by the UN General Assembly. «This decision, without any exaggeration, became an event of historical importance. The unanimous support of the initiative put forward by you by all members of the world community visually testifies to the great fame of Turkmenistan on the international arena, a general recognition of your merits and contribution to safety, stability and sustainable development of our large region», - is told in the congratulatory message. The president of Uzbekistan also noted that the UN Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia in Ashgabat serves as an effective mechanism for maintenance and development of a constructive dialogue between regional countries. . «In Uzbekistan we attach a special value to the relations of friendship and good neighbourhood with Turkmenistan. Our countries act from the general or similar positions on topical issues of world policy and regional safety, becoming a reliable support for each other in the decision of important tasks for timely reaction to arising challenges and threats», - the Uzbek leader underlined.
