Seven medals - four gold, one silver and two bronze, have been won by Turkmenistan team on the first day of XXI international tournament in category “A” of the open championship of the Republic of Belarus in classical and combat Sambo for awards of the President Alexander Lukashenko in Minsk. 14 medal events have been held on this day in total. The competition was attended by over 200 sportsmen from 16 countries Russia, Bulgaria, Romania, Greece, Israel, Slovakia, Ukraine, etc. Our team includes 26 masters (18 men and 8 women), including winners of international competitions . Gold Award has been won by Ahmed Tanryberdyev (up to 57 kg), competing in combat version of self-defense without weapons. Next triumph awaited а native of Lebap province Rushanа Nurdzhavovа (up to 56 kg). Another early victory was brought to the Turkmen team by the master of combat sambo, a multiple winner of the World Cup - Abdulla Babayev. The fourth gold medal for sporting achievements of Turkmenistan has been won by Tedjen Tedjenov. The final match in the battle discipline in category up to 100 kg became “silver” for Turkmen sportsmen Charymyrat Annakurbanov. Two bronze medals have been taken by Maksuddzhan Avlyakuliev in sports discipline (up to 52 kg); and by Dzhovlanbek Madaminov in combat version (up to 82 kg). Tomorrow International Sambo tournament in category “A” is holding another 14 medal events. Before the tournament, our sambo wrestlers have gone though a 10-day gathering on the basis of the Olympic sports complex “Stayki” 10 km from Minsk, and have participated in friendly matches with the leading Belarusian sambo wrestlers. Last year, Turkmen team has won six medals - one gold, two silver and three bronze –in the competition for awards of the President Alexander Lukashenko. The current competition is one of the stages of preparation for 5th Asian Indoors and Martial Arts Games. Tournament Results in Minsk will determine the level of readiness of our Sambo team for the Asian Games 2017.
