While on a get-acquainted tour of the Olympic Complex, colleagues of the head of state practiced bicycle riding on the tracks of the indoor velodrome. The velodrome has everything necessary to hold international cycling competitions and races, including world championships, and boasts 6,000-seat stands. It has required infrastructure to provide optimal conditions for sportsmen and trainers, technical and service staff, and for cycling enthusiasts. Participants in national test events as well as specialists of the International Cycling Union have already had an opportunity to test the quality of the facility. The Olympic Complex includes over 30 different-purpose facilities, which are on a level with the highest world standards. Some of the sports venues have already hosted test events, including the Asian Sambo Championship, Ju-Jitsu, Goresh and Belt Wrestling Championships, as well as international tennis, track-and-field and basketball events. All these competitions brought excellent training experience to Turkmen athletes and helped them to prepare for the Asian Games. In April, the velodrome will host three sporting events – the Asian Weightlifting and Kickboxing Championships, and international swimming competitions. Organized in compliance with the requirements of the Olympic Council of Asia, test events enable to check operational capabilities of the facilities and systems of the capital’s Olympic Complex and their operational readiness for the V Asian Games. Giving close attention to providing support to national sports, Turkmenistan also seeks to make its contribution to developing the international sports movement. This is regarded as a crucial factor in bringing nations closer together, strengthening peaceful relations, friendship and positive cooperation on the planet. The 2017 Asian Games are destined to serve the same purposes.
