The past week was marked with a number of the events reflecting the efficiency of realisation of the government programs initiated by National Leader of the Turkmen people Hero-Arkadag and successfully realised under the leadership of Arkadagly Hero Serdar, focused on the regular and all round development of our fatherland, expansion of economic partnership and humanitarian relations in interests of universal peace, well-being and progress.
On March 16, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a working meeting with participation of Deputy-Chairman of the Cabinet T.Atahallyev and khyakims of velayats, at which the issues connected with the course of work in agriculture and in regions of the country, were considered.
The head of the state underlined the necessity of maintenance of the co-ordinated activity of all structures involved in current seasonal agricultural campaigns and strict observance of requirements of agro-technical standards that not only provides food abundance in our fatherland, but also promotes sustainable development of the sector.
The President of Turkmenistan emphasised the upcoming national holiday of spring - Novruz bayramy and instructed to prepare properly for the events to be held in velayats on that occasion.
With a view of creation of favourable conditions for solemn celebration of the Oraza bayramy and the national holiday of spring as well as due recreation of citizens, the head of the state signed the Decree on transfer of the day off on March 22 to March 23, 2026 - Monday.
Besides, the past week President Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed the Decree «On the discharge of military personnel serving by conscription from the Armed Forces, other troops and military bodies of Turkmenistan, and the next conscription of citizens of Turkmenistan for military service» as well as the Order on execution of the above Decree.
On March 17-19, National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Hero-Arkadag at the invitation of the Chairman of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping paid a friendly visit to the People’s Republic of China.
The National Leader of the Turkmen people held an official meeting with the Chairman of the People’s Republic of China Si Jìnpíng, in which a great number of the issues connected with the further strengthening of multilateral partnership between two countries and its development into a qualitatively new level were considered.
In particular, prospects of cooperation in the gas branch and development of a new phase of the Galkynysh gas deposit were discussed.
Taking into account opening possibilities for promotion of transport-logistics interaction, including the East-West transport corridor, the agreement on intensification of partnership in the sphere was reached.
In addition, an emphasis was made on the significance of conduction of proper work to increase in volumes of bilateral goods turnover.
Opinions on adjustment of practice of exchange of experience between specialists of two countries in cultivation of cotton and other agricultural crops were also exchanged.
The attention was also paid to issues of strengthening interaction in the humanitarian area, activization of partnership and realisation of joint projects in the scientific-educational sphere.
During the meeting, National Leader of the Turkmen people Hero-Arkadag handed Chairman of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jìnpíng the invitation of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to visit our country during any time convenient for him.
On the sidelines of his visit, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met with Dai Houliang, Chairman of the Board of Directors of China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC). Issues of bilateral partnership in the gas sphere were discussed.
Hero-Arkadag proposed to hold the international scientific-practical conference to commemorate the 20th anniversary of cooperation.
On March 19, National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan within his visit to the People’s Republic of China, visited the international horse complex «Equuleus».
Specialists of the complex noted that the work on cultivation of Akhal-teke horses in China is conducted on the basis of combination of Turkmen traditions and methods of horse grooming.
Hero-Arkadag at the meeting with members of the International Association of Akhal-teke Horse Breeding pointed out a historical role of these horses in the life of Turkmen and Chinese peoples.
Having informed that during the present visit on behalf of the President of Turkmenistan the wonderful Akhal-teke horse by name Gadyrly was presented as gift and Hero-Arkadag underlined that, like the Akhal-teke horse presented 12 years ago, it has become an original symbol of strengthening relations between our countries for the past period.
The National Leader of the Turkmen people focused attention on the infrastructure connected with horse breeding in Arkadag city, erected on the ancient native land of "heavenly" horses.
Hero-Arkadag also marked that in our country, along with Akhal-teke horses, the huge attention is given to cultivation of Turkmen alabays and invited all who wish to become members of the International Association of «Türkmen alabaý itleri».
On behalf of the President of the International Association of Akhal-teke Horse Breeding Serdar Berdimuhamedov, Hero-Arkadag invited the Chinese party to take part in the National holiday of the Turkmen horse as well as the scientific-practical conference, which will take place in April.
National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Hero-Arkadag shared his vision of the present condition and perspective areas of cooperation between two countries in the interview to anchor of Chinese TV channel "CGTN" He Yankai.
On March 19, the fourth anniversary of assumption of the office by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov in the nationwide elections was marked and under leadership of him independent neutral Turkmenistan continues to follow confidently the course put by National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty Hero-Arkadag.
On March 20, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a regular online meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, at which a number of issues of state life were considered.
Those issues included further modernisation of legislation of the country, expansion of external economic partnership, enhancement of export potential of the gas branch, increase of volumes of production of the construction and industrial complex, strengthening of the material and technical basis of the sphere of communication.
The course of seasonal agricultural campaigns and supply of home markets with articles of food, maintenance of affordability of the prices, increase of output of agricultural and the food-processing industry and export of those produces were also informed.
For consideration of the head of Turkmenistan, the drafts of government program on development of foreign trade activities of Turkmenistan for 2026-2030, the Action plan for development of cooperation of Turkmenistan with international economic organisations for 2026-2028, the Road map of joint activity of Turkmenistan with international financial institutions for 2026-2028 were presented.
At the meeting, the head of the state gave his blessing to the start of cotton sowing campaign in all velayats of the country on March 25 and wished cotton growers and workers of agriculture great successes in their work.
The information on preparation for the International tourist exhibition and conference «Turkmentravel - 2026», which will take place in Ashgabat in April of the current year, and several sports events planned on the occasion of World Health Day in velayats of the country, Ashgabat and Arkadag cities in April 1-7 was also delivered.
Results of the friendly visit of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Hero-Arkadag to the People’s Republic of China became a separate topic of the meeting.
By the agreements reached, the President of Turkmenistan signed the Resolution at the government meeting, according to which "Türkmengaz" State Concern will conclude the contract with the Chinese company «CNPC Amyderya Petroleum Company Ltd.» on designing and construction of the construction of gas processing facilities with an annual capacity of 10 billion cubic meters of pipeline-quality gas and the drilling of the required commercial wells within the framework of the 4th phase of the Galkynyş gas field development".
As the head of the state noted, realisation of this historical project is urged to promote substantial growth of extraction of natural gas in the country and creation of numerous new workplaces.
At the meeting, the comprehensive plan on expansion of interaction with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) was also presented.
On March 20, the telephone conversation was held between the National Leader of Turkmen people Hero Arkadag and President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
Interlocutors warmly congratulated each other and fraternal people of two countries on the Oraza bayramy and the holiday of Novruz. As Hero-Arkadag underlined, joint celebration strengthens friendship, brotherhood, good neighbourhood and mutual understanding between two people and gives a new impulse to cooperation in various areas.
Hero-Arkadag invited President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to visit Turkmenistan this autumn for participation in the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia and Azerbaijan as well as in the Summit of heads of CIS state.
Interlocutors noted a fruitful character of activity of the Turkmen-Uzbek intergovernmental commission on trade and economic, scientific, technical, and cultural cooperation.
Energy, transport and communications, agriculture and trade spheres were outlined among strategic areas of economic partnership. Necessity of further interaction in the field of science, education and culture was marked.
On March 20, the Turkmen people with the entire Muslim community of the world marked the Oraza bayramy.
On March 21, the telephone conversation was held between President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif.
Interlocutors congratulated each other and friendly peoples of two countries on the sacred holiday of Oraza and the International holiday of Novruz, being an integral component of the rich cultural heritage of two peoples.
The intensification of fruitful interstate cooperation in all areas was underlined.
Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif stated readiness of Pakistan to use the best efforts for further development of trade and economic relations and invited President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to visit Pakistan during any time convenient for him.
In the atmosphere of general enthusiasm and spiritual uplift, Turkmen nationals marked the national holiday of spring - International Day of Novruz. The main celebrations by tradition were held in the valley «Nowruz ýaýlasy» in Ak bugday etrap of Akhal velayat.
Members of the Government, representatives of the Mejlis, various ministries and departments, public organisations, diplomatic missions and international organisations accredited in Turkmenistan, mass media took part in actions. More than 220 foreign visitors from about 30 countries also attended the festivities.
The colourful folklore-ethnographic performances, bright national costumes, music, and dances, the exhibition of Turkmen decorative and applied arts, various crafts, fascinating national games and competitions, fascinating difficult tricks performed by horsemen of the famous group of national horse games «Galkynyş» displayed the richness of the holiday and displayed to the whole world the unique cultural heritage of our people, its outstanding talent and high creative spirit.
The nationwide tree planting campaign, which took place on March 21, was timed to Novruz. By the established tradition, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov started to the next stage of realisation of the large-scale program on transformation of our fatherland into a blossoming land and planted a young sapling of tree in the green space territory in the southern part of the capital.
The spring season of tree planting started in the territory of Arkadag city with participation of National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in the festive atmosphere.
During the present national ecological action, all over the country, 611 thousand 962 saplings of trees were planted. Along with work on accomplishment of parks and forest zones, proper care was taken of a total of 2 million 24 thousand 240 trees.
The past week in Ashgabat, the large scale exhibition timed to the 18th anniversary of creation of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan was also held.
The achievements in release of import replacing production and strengthening of export potential of our fatherland were displayed by hundreds of companies specialising in manufacture of building materials and electric equipment, household and specialised chemistry, furniture and goods of home appliances, agriculture, food, processing and light industry, transport and logistics sphere and trade and household services, decorative and applied arts, sports industry, publishing and polygraph.
The special attention was given to possibilities of the medical cluster of Arkadag city.
Within the exhibition, the International forum «Investments into the future of Turkmenistan», which became an effective platform for discussion of investment possibilities of the local private sector, exchange of experience and development of state-private partnership took place.
On March 19, the early voting for the election of members of the Khalk Maslakhaty in the newly formed etraps of the country’s velayats, as well as by-elections to the Mejlis of Turkmenistan and local representative bodies were held.
In accordance with Article 73 of the Electoral Code, this procedure is established for citizens who, due to various objective reasons, are unable to attend a polling station on the election day of March 29 to cast their vote for a candidate of their choice.
Thus, the events of the past week fully reflected the consistency of the political course of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov in achieving the large-scale goals of foreign and domestic policy, based on the country's powerful economic potential, mutually beneficial international cooperation, and the energy and spiritual values of the Turkmen people.
