The regular issue of the quarterly popular scientific magazine "Miras" which is published by the Institute of Language, Literature and National Manuscripts named after Magtymguly of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, was released out of print. The edition dedicated to a wide range of readers continues a series of publications of discoveries and results of research activities in the spiritual heritage of our people.

The year 2025, which passed under the motto «The International year of peace and trust», gave a possibility to newly estimate national cultural and historical values from positions of the modern epoch.

First pages of the magazine contain the Messages of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov on the occasion of the International Day of Older Persons, Holiday of the Turkmen alabai, International Day of Neutrality and New year.

Under the traditional heading «New discoveries», articles «Triumph of the neutral policy of Turkmenistan» and «Neutrality - history, the present and future of Turkmenistan» are placed. They provide a complex analysis of the status of positive neutrality of the Turkmen state. Authors characterise the foreign policy of the country as an active, consecutive strategy based on the national historical experience, which combines adherence to traditional values with openness to full-scale international cooperation and strengthening of the constructive global dialogue.

In the same section, one can find the article «The ancient path of medicine in Turkmenistan», devoted to evolution of the national system of public health services from the epoch of the Seljuqs to the present.

The author of the article underlines a significant contribution of outstanding Turkmen scientists to formation of world medical science. In particular, Lukman Hekim, whose name is mentioned in the medieval literary work «Kyssasyl enbiýa», is noted.

In the context of the historical analysis, data from the work of National Leader of the Turkmen people, academician and doctor Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov «True Pearl» are provided. According to the source, the cities located along the route of the Great Silk road in the territory of Turkmenistan, were large centres of medicine where specialized clinics –maristans functioned.

On the basis of the scientific data, the necessity of similar medical institution in Dandanakan as a strategically important point on the crossing of trading routes between Merv and Serahs is proved.

As the author marks, for today in all regions of the country a developed network of medical-diagnostic, scientific-clinical centres as well as modern medical institutions completed with the innovative equipment from leading world manufacturers, functions. Considerable achievements of Turkmenistan in the field of protection and improvement of public health were also highly appreciated by the international community.

Under the headline «Interaction of cultures, people and civilisations» the article by teacher of the department of «Modern Turkic dialects and literature» of Pamukkale University of the Republic of Turkiye Soner Saglam «Family relations and education of generations in the work «Wagzy-Azat» by Dovletmammet Azady is given.

In the works of Dovletmammet Azady, national views on relation between parents and children are reflected. In the scientific didactic work, one can find his thoughts on forty duties of children before parents as well as deeply pathetic verses of the poet. At present, all this has not lost its significance and is perceived as the life experience, making strong impact on human mind and its morals.

Family formation as basic cell of society directly promotes the strengthening of the internal consent that in turn is a pledge of unity and stability in the state. In the given context, the work of the outstanding Turkmen thinker of XVIII century Dovletmammet Azady «Wagzy-Azat» - an important manual aimed at popularisation of traditional values.

As the author marks, translation of works by Azady into languages of Turkic people and their wide recognition serve as a significant factor for strengthening the intercultural relations and friendship of people.

One should point out that preservation of historical and cultural objects and augmentation of spiritual property of Turkmen people was defined by Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov as one of the priority vectors of state policy, which nowadays is consistently and successfully realised under the leadership of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

On the sidelines of actualisation of the national heritage and popularisation of creative achievements of people, Turkmenistan forms new substantial approaches to use of historical potential. The state considers historical and cultural property not only as an ideological basis but also as the significant spiritual, economic and social asset of the nation, initiating the deepening of research activity in the given area.

Among articles of the regular issue of the magazine one can read the article «Layers of Paryz-depe dated to the Anau culture» where one can learn of archaeological researches conducted in the territory of the ancient site of the ancient settlement in different years.

As is marked, the monument located in vicinities of Ashgabat, was superficially explored in 1947 by the South Turkmenistan Archaeological Complex Expedition (YuTAKE). Scientific study proceeded in 1983 by the profile expedition of the Academy of Sciences of TSSR under the leadership of V.N.Pilipko. As a result of researches in top layers, the continuity of cultural process covering the periods from the early Iron Age and Parthia to the late Middle Ages was confirmed.

The new stage of complex study of the monument started in 2016 with participation of employees of the Institute of History and Archaeology of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan and National Department of Turkmenistan for the Protection, Study and Restoration of Historical and Cultural Monuments of the Ministry of Culture of the country.

During field seasons of 2024-2025, specialists concentrated on clarification of the stratigraphic profile of the monument. Researches were conducted in the pit at the eastern slope of the hill of Erkgala. The works started in 2019 continued at the deep horizons located below the foundation level of constructions, unearthed earlier by the method of continuous opening of the area.

As a result of explorations held in the pit, a number of significant archaeological finds were discovered. They included elements of ceramic utensils, clay spinning wheel, processed and raw stones, and small fragments of metal products and bones of animals.

The article «Ancient manuscripts and modern solutions», which touches upon introduction of innovative solutions in preservation of old manuscripts, will also evoke an interest of specialists and readers.

Maintenance of safety of funds of the Institute of Language, Literature and National Manuscripts named after Magtymguly of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan is considered as an important state task. Being unique historical evidences, curiosities are subject to natural destruction and aggressive influence of mold fungi.

As the author marks, issues of timely restoration and preservation of documents become more and more essential as process of ageing of paper is irreversible. Restoration of such monuments demands a combination of ancient craft technologies with advanced achievements of science. At that, in modern practice advantage is given to natural materials, which minimise the risk of damage of valuable artefacts under processing.

Considering shortcomings of traditional antiseptics - their toxicity and gradual adaptation of microorganisms to chemical compounds - search of ecologically safe and effective alternatives obtains a special importance. Based upon centuries-old traditions of rational wildlife management, Turkmen scientists investigate antiseptic properties of the essential oils.

The encyclopaedic work of the National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov «Medicinal plants of Turkmenistan» serves as a fundamental theoretical basis for the given research activities. In the first volume of the given edition, the chemical compound of vegetative extracts and their specific role in struggle against fungi is in details characterised.

The flora of Turkmenistan represented mainly with xerophytes, possesses a unique biochemical resource. The high maintenance of essential and fat oils, alkaloids and tannins, which are developed by plants in the course of adaptation to arid climate, ensure their powerful protective properties. Today, it is extremely demandable in archival and restoration activity.

The section «Chronicle of scientific and cultural life» for the fourth quarter of the past year, in which actual events of the International year of peace and trust, showing the sequence of progressive peace-making policy pursued by head of the state Serdar Berdimuhamedov, successful realisation of socially focused policy, found their proper reflection.
