The past week closed 2025, which was marked for victories and successes in all areas of the internal and foreign policy, initiated by National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and consistently realised under the leadership of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, which is aimed both at protection of national interests and the strengthening of peace in the planet.
The baton of labour achievements, new successes of our fatherland was received by 2026, which will pass under the motto «Independent neutral Turkmenistan - the native land of purposeful winged racers», reflecting key reference points for the future. And it is not without reason that the shape of the magnificent Ahalteke racer is placed in the centre of the State Emblem of Turkmenistan. The legendary racer became an embodiment of creative potential of our fatherland, its prompt advancement towards new boundaries of development and creative spirit of the people.
On December 29, the telephone conversation took place between National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
The parties exchanged congratulations on the occasion of the New year 2026 and conveyed to fraternal people of two countries their wish of progress and well-being. The head of the friendly state also transferred warm words of greeting to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
During the conversation, Hero-Arkadag pointed out the importance of announcement of 2026 «Year of Development of Mahalla and Entire Society» by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in his message on December 26 to the parliament and the people of Uzbekistan.
Proceeding from commonness of goals, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed belief in continuation of strategic partnership between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan on a wide spectrum of areas.
As was underlined, in 2026 interaction of foreign policy departments of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan will find more active character. The National Leader of the Turkmen people suggested starting since first days of the New Year joint work on discussion of organizational issues of the large international actions planned to be held in our countries. In that regard, Hero-Arkadag mentioned preparation planned to carry out in Turkmenistan in 2026 of the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia and Azerbaijan and the next meeting of the Council of heads of CIS states.
The necessity of development of the joint program of actions for solution of water issues in Central Asia, Aral and Caspian regions, and Amu Darya was marked.
Results of 2025 and the subsequent plans became the main theme of telephone conversation between National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Chairwoman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko.
As was marked, the Turkmen-Russian relations in 2025 became more productive and were marked by important events. Hero-Arkadag underlined the importance of visits of the President of Turkmenistan to Russia for participation in the celebrations devoted to the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory, and in the summit of heads of member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States. In the given context, it was stated that in Turkmenistan, the initiative «Train of Memory» in honour of victory in the Great Patriotic War was supported, and the delegation of schoolchildren from our country took part in it.
Relations were dynamically and consistently developed between Turkmenistan and Russia at inter-parliamentary level. The visit of the delegation from Turkmenistan at the head of Oguljahan Atabayeva, Vice President for Medical Activities of the Charity Fund for Providing Assistance to Children in Need of Guardianship named after Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to St.-Petersburg for participation in work of the IV International Forum «Commonwealth of Fashion» became an important event held within humanitarian cooperation.
Hero-Arkadag confirmed readiness of Turkmenistan to continue multiplane and systematic mutual relations with Russia in the spirit of bilateral strategic partnership and cooperation in the multilateral format.
So, according to the decision of the Council of heads of CIS states, on October 9, 2026 in Turkmenistan, in the Avaza national tourist zone, the next Summit of the Commonwealth will take place. Within the presidency of Turkmenistan in the CIS such actions, as Dialogue of Women, session of the Inter-parliamentary Assembly of the CIS, Conference on demography issues are also planned.
The National Leader of the Turkmen people noted Valentina Matvienko's personal contribution to the strengthening of Turkmen-Russian cooperation and expressed confidence that the negotiations planned for 2026 with the Chairman of the of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation will bring out interstate relations to a new level.
2026 was welcomed with inspiration and great joy in Turkmenistan and the baton of the successes reached in all sectors of national economy was received.
New Year's celebrations captured all corners of the country. In places of festive walks around elegantly decorated fur-trees shining by multi-coloured lights the happy children sang and danced in a ring. The magic, bewitching atmosphere of the holiday was increased by performances of popular crooners, recognised masters of stage and rising stars.
Numerous residents and gusts of the capital met the New Year in the fantastic small town at the Main fur-tree of the country placed in the square before the alem culture –entertainment centre.
Popular actors glorified a new historical stage of development of our fatherland with their songs and performed national pieces of music, and compositions with New Year's wishes.
On behalf of all the gathered, presenters congratulated Hero-Arkadag and the President of Turkmenistan with the happy New Year, expressing wishes of sound health, happiness and successes in realisation of large scale reforms for prosperity and well-being of our people and native land.
The traditional spacebridge connected the Turkmen capital with administrative centres of all velayats of the country and Arkadag city.
The New Year's message of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to his compatriots, sounded for several minutes before midnight became the culmination moment of celebration.
The head of the state designated basic marks of the past year, in brief characterised all spheres of life of the country, gave estimation of results of the internal and foreign policy and pointed out that 2025 became one of the significant years in the contemporary history of our independent native land.
«Let the New Year become the year of well-being, abundance and prosperity! Let there be always consent and good fortune in your families! Let the New Year bring happiness and prosperity! Let the New Year with swiftness of the racer implement all the planned purposes and aspirations!», - the President of Turkmenistan wished.
Celebrations came to the end with the bright fireworks, which decorated the sky over the Turkmen capital.
And, of course, the entire past week was filled by the New Year's magic.
On the threshold of the holiday, in Ashkhabad a series of concerts of foreign performers were held. In the musical marathon, which was passing on the platform of the Sports complex of winter sports acted the following: one of the most famous world singers - prize-winner of "Eurovision" Iranian-Swedish actor Arash, the Russian performer Matvey Melnikov, known with his stage pseudonym Mot and Turkish pop performer Semicenk (Chenk Bash).
These concerts became a part of large-scale actions within the International year of peace and trust. The organisation of tours of world stars on the threshold of significant dates became a kind tradition put by Hero-Arkadag and successfully continued by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov. Similar cultural actions on the eve of the New Year give Turkmen nationals unforgettable celebratory moments.
The events being held on the first day of the New Year in Arkadag city started with the ceremony of raising the National flag on the central square and release of coloured balloons into the sky.
Ayaz baba and Garpamyk joined incendiary performances of workers of culture and art and young actors.
Festive actions proceeded in the Children's health improving-rehabilitation centre named after Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
Within the celebration, accompanied with songs and music, children on behalf of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Hero-Arkadag were handed celebratory gifts - sweets, educational accessories, interactive means and musical instruments.
Children thanked the head of the state and Hero-Arkadag for care, and congratulated with the happy New Year and transferred their best regards.
On the threshold of the holiday, in the Palace «Maslahat köşgi» the New Year's event organised by the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Guardianship. Among guests of the action - children's group of creative centre "Jahan" and other children to whom gifts from the Charitable Foundation were handed.
Children of the Palace «Döwletliler köşgi» also received New Year’s gifts on behalf of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. Heads and representatives of several ministries, departments and public organisations and, of course, the main characters of the fantastic holiday Ayaz baba and Garpamyk, a symbol of the upcoming year Horse came to congratulate children with the Happy New Year.
Schoolchildren of «Döwletliler köşgi» expressed deep gratitude to the head of the state and Hero-Arkadag for happy childhood, constant care and attention, and the kindest wishes and congratulations with the New Year.
Keys to new apartments became a fine gift for many Turkmen nationals on the eve of the New Year. In the New Year, which coincided with house warming, happy families marked in the capital - Buzmeyin etrap and «Parahat-7» residential area and Mary city.
In the first days of January in the city of Arkadag, the solemn conference devoted to the motto of 2026 «Independent neutral Turkmenistan - the native land of purposeful winged racers» and to its significance took place. The authorities of the city, horse breeding spheres, and teachers of the International academy of horse breeding named after Aba Annayev, profile experts, honoured elders of Turkmenistan, creative figures, representatives of public organisations, mass media, and students took part in the action.
The exhibition of works of fine art, decorative and applied arts and photo materials organised in the foyer of the building of the khyakimlik reflected achievements of the city of Arkadag and beauty of Ahalteke horses. A special place was given to remarkable books of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Hero-Arkadag Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, devoted to fast racers, - «Ahalteke - our pride and glory», «Prompt gait of racer», «Horse - a symbol of fidelity and happiness» and others.
Speakers at the conference underlined that thanks to huge efforts of Hero-Arkadag and Arkadagly Hero Serdar, the Ahalteke horse during a new historical epoch became the main symbol of Turkmenistan that shows indissoluble link of times and generations.
As was marked, the decision on announcement of 2026 «Independent neutral Turkmenistan - the native land of purposeful winged racers» was rather well thought. It is harmoniously combined with remarkable words of the National Leader of the Turkmen people: «We create an unusual philosophy of unity with horses. It consists in victory. The victory is training and a way to perfection. Ride forward, racer, for the sake of victory! Glorify the merit of your people, racer!».
Ahalteke racers take an important place in the life of Turkmen people. These magnificent creations amazing the whole world by extraordinary beauty, - property and wings of soul of the nation. Inclusion of the nomination "Akhal-Teke Horse Breeding Art and Horse Decoration Traditions" in the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity increased the glory of the Ahalteke horse in the world.
Proceeding from national love to delightful horses, Hero-Arkadag attached a great attention to perfection of national art of horse breeding, popularisation of fine racers in the state policy. As an example, it is possible to mention the achievements of the national group of horse games «Galkynyş», which repeatedly became the winner of prestigious competitions and reviews. So, at the 47th International festival of circus in Monte-Carlo (Principality of Monaco) the Group became owner of the Gran-prix and received some other awards.
Speakers also directed attention to the importance of the action first held in this year in honour of the motto of 2026 in the city of Arkadag - in the homeland of Ahalteke racers where there is the International academy of horse breeding named after Aba Annayev.
So, 2026 has started. Having united round Hero-Arkadag and President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, the Turkmen people in unity will reach planned high and significant goals for further prosperity of our independent neutral fatherland.
