The concern for the Turkmen citizens’ health and healthy life style is reflected not only in the state programmes, the laws of Turkmenistan, the programmes on development of sanatorium and resort infrastructure but in the social life processes, increasing people’s spiritual and cultural level and environmentalization of the national economy as well. These particular principles and values lay the foundation of the policy pursued by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. Public health, development of physical culture and sports movement in the country as well as implementation of its tourist potential through international cooperation – all these three important areas have been united in one significant for Turkmenistan project – the 2017 Asian Games. The President of Turkmenistan notes that holding the V Asian Games at the high organizational level is of particular importance for our country. The Turkmen leader underlines that the Asian Games will provide all necessary conditions for the citizens of Turkmenistan to practice physical culture and sports, bring up physically strong younger generation and train high-class athletes. The strategy of social and economic development of Turkmenistan, initiated by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, sets the tasks on bringing our country to the list of states with high indicators of economic progress and population wellbeing. The steps taken to achieve this goal place priority on the health care as a basic system aimed at preserving the main treasure of the country – people’s health. Improvement of medical services offered to the population is possible only upon condition that the health care system develops innovatively based on progressive developments and methods. That is vividly illustrated by new medical facilities, supplied with the most advanced equipment, which were put into operation in 2016, as well as large curative and preventive health care institutions under construction in all regions of our country. The most important component of preventive work is the sports and health-improving movement. Month Traditional sports events held from April 5 to May 5. Particular attention was focused on the competitions sport Asian Games-2017. The traditional month of sports events took place in the country on April 5 – May 5. Particular attention was paid to the sports included into the programme of the 2017 Asian Games. Thus, among the most spectacular tournaments were the Turkmenistan Thai Boxing Championship and Dancesport Championship held in Ashgabat. The horse riding competitions were arranged at the Ashgabat Equestrian Complex. As was reported, horse rising competitions as well as Turkmen national wrestling – goresh were included into the programmme of the 2017 Asian Games on the initiative of the President of Turkmenistan. In April, 2016, the Ashgabat Equestrian Complex hosted the opening ceremony of the new arena with the stands designed for 600 seats. Bowling has started developing in our country relatively recently. The first bowling championship was held in Ashgabat in April, 2016. The Ashgabat Olympic Village hosted large international competitions: the Asian Sambo Championship in May, the Asian Goresh Wrestling and Belt Wrestling Championships in June, the International Tennis Junior Tournaments in September, the International Basketball Tournament in November and the Asian Jiujitsu Championship in December. Our athletes won the first prizes in team events and were awarded with the valuable gifts on behalf of the President of Turkmenistan. In 2016, the Turkmen athletes participated in 138 international competitions abroad and won 643 medals - 221 gold, 196 silver and 226 bronze medals. International sports media forums were held in our country with the aim to advertise and promote the Asian Games. The V Asian Games slogan - ""Health. Inspiration. Friendship”, the emblem of the 2017 Asian Games, the official brand of the Games and the mascot were approved. The presentation of the 2017 Asian Games took place at the General Assembly of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU in Bali, Indonesia in October. Other sports, not included in the programme of the Asian Games, such as ice hockey, figure skating, auto motor sport are actively developing in our country. Turkmenistan improves the system of training high-class athletes - Olympic champions the new faculty was opened at the National Institute of Sports and Tourism. President of Turkmenistan keeps under control the issues on promoting and developing sports and health-improving movement, improving health care and health resort infrastructure of the tourism industry. In addition to the monuments of our country's history, lately the Caspian coast has attracted attention by the new resort area - Avaza. Given the prospects of its development, many foreign tour operators consider it as one of the most promising global centers of sea, beaches recreation and yacht tourism. The opening ceremony of the Ak ýelken cottage complex as well as the Tolkun Yacht Club with cottages took place there with the participation of the President of Turkmenistan in August 2016. A training center, where one can master the skills of surfing, diving, watercrafting was opened at the yacht club. The regular International Exhibition ""Tourism and Travel"" and the conference on development of cooperation in this field 2took place in the Avaza national tourism zone on September 7-29. The forum provided a platform for exchanging views on different approaches to the development of this sector as well as demonstrating the practices of successful companies in the industry and considering the most significant examples of Turkmenistan's cooperation with foreign partners in this area. The 2017 Asian Games cultural programme is another major project aimed at revealing the tourist potential of the country, attracting attention to our monuments of archeology and architecture, unique landscape sights, historical and legendary places, as well as museums, theaters, exhibition halls. The acquaintance with the ethnographic and folklore wealth, national crafts, modern decorative and applied arts and monumental art occupy an important place in this programme.
