The Olympic Complex has hosted an Open Door Day attended by foreign sport specialists. The event was organized by the National Olympic Committee as part of thorough preparations for the V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Ashgabat in the running year’s September. In a conference hall of the office center located in the residential area, the guests – representatives of the Olympic Committees of China, Saudi Arabia, Taipei and Kazakhstan – were shown a video film about the construction of facilities for the Asian Games, which have been built in three phases and are now nearing the end. The Olympic Complex is scheduled to be put into operation in March. Representatives of the Olympic Committees were offered to take a get-acquainted tour of the Complex, a round trip on the monorail, which gives a wonderful view of the original architectural ensemble of buildings and sports grounds, surrounded by fountains. The foreign specialists paid a visit to accommodation facilities for sportsmen, an indoor cycle track, and a water sports complex, highly appraised the quality of the sports buildings, noted the immensity of the complex and at the same time its compactness, well-thought-out location of each facility, and aesthetic qualities. During a presentation, which was given in the martial arts complex, the representatives of the Executive Committee of the V Asian Games became acquainted with sports, included in the program of major competitions, their dates and venues. As noted, a series of the Asian Games qualifying competitions will start the day before the official opening. Futsal and tennis players will start to compete for medals on September 16. The competitions will be the longest ones during the 2017 Asian Games: they will last 17 days. Two days (September 22 and 23) will be given to determine medal winners in goresh wrestling, which was included in the program of the international games for the first time. The guests were informed that on April 16-30 the Olympic Complex would simultaneously host international test competitions in three sports: weightlifting, swimming and kickboxing. A meeting of the foreign specialists with representatives of the Organizing Committee of the V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games focused on the issues of holding the major competitions in the Turkmen capital.
