Turkmenistan Fencing Championship concluded at “Ashgabat” Sports Complex. The tournament gathered together 70 best masters of saber, foil and epee duels. In the final saber duel, Serdar Bayramov, the winner of numerous international tournaments, defeated Muhammet Gochmyradov, the repeated winner of national championships in this category, 15:9. Both athletes represented Ashgabat. Two gold medals, in epee and foil, were won by Mengli Goyunlyeva (Ashgabat). In the decisive duel, the student of the National Institute of Sport and Tourism struggled to defeat the members of the Balkan team, Maria Karpova and Kamelia Melashchenko, 15:12 and 15:13 accordingly. Aylar Muhammedvaleeva had no rivals in sabers, and defeated Gozel Tairova in the finals (both represented Ashgabat). Men’s foil and epee duels were also won by athletes from Ashgabat, masters of sports Ahmed Agaev and Vyacheslav Voronin. They represent the Ashgabat Academy of Higher Sportsmanship where they are trained by Vitaly Kagramanov, the merited coach of Turkmenistan and the head coach of the national team, and Alena Bogdanova. It is worth noting that the sportsmanship of Balkan school of fencing improves every year. The coastal team had two wins at the current national tournament, in men’s and women’s team epee. The national team will be formed based on the outcomes of the tournament, and the athletes will begin training for several international competitions. The Asian Championship will take place in Hong Kong in mid-June, and the World Championship will be held in Leipzig (Germany) the next month. Then, in August, Taipei will host the World Summer Universiade, the program of which also includes fencing competitions.
