A new road bridge with a three-level junction has been erected in the capital at the intersection of N. Andalib Street and Gurbansoltaneje Avenue. The newly-built facility, which includes the new bridge, a 380-meter-long tunnel and a traffic circle substituted an outmoded road facility. The road junction has 8 entrance and exit ramps, which are constructed as overpasses in the original architectural style with elements of modern and national design. The overhead road is lined with sidewalks for the convenience of pedestrians. Maximum load-carrying characteristics, the country’s climate and geological conditions were taken into account by the project. The facility has high earthquake resistance and is designed to withstand an earthquake measuring 9.0 on the Richter scale. Necessary utility lines have been laid along the road, including water drainage systems, drip irrigation for young trees, electricity supply systems for technical needs and street lighting. Road markings are made of modern long wearing materials. Today, three 240-car multistory car parks have been put into operation in the capital. They were built by local building companies – “Medet Emir” and “Galaly Göz”. The parking garages are equipped with computerized system of control. They boast special electromagnetic equipment, a system of barriers at the entrance, and detecting equipment at the exit. A special place is marked for every vehicle. To ensure safe entry to and exit from the car parks, there are wide passways, ascending and descending driveways. Besides stairways, the garages have lifts.
