Maintenance of happy and well-provided life of the individual, which the Constitution of Turkmenistan proclaims the highest asset of society and the state, acts as an unconditional priority of the far-sighted policy started by National Leader of the Turkmen people Hero-Arkadag and nowadays successfully continued under the leadership of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
In this regard, the successes reached in such significant and mutually supplemented social spheres, as public health services and sports, which playing a key role in improvement of health, prevention of diseases, enhancement of general immunity, so - in increase of average life expectancy of population of our country are rather indicative.
As known, in the Era of Revival of the New Epoch of the Powerful State, according to the large scale transformation programs, which envisage dynamic development of cities and villages, even the in remotest regions modern sports complexes and major public health projects services are erected.
As was informed at the expanded meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, which took place on July 12, construction of the new scientific-clinical centres, many of which have no analogue in the Central Asian region, now proceeds,.
So, in April of this year, a complex of buildings of the Mother and Child Health Protection Center in Mary velayat was put in operation that became one more indicator of responsible approach to maintenance of harmonious development of the growing generation.
Attaching a special significance to protection of maternity and childhood, the state creates all conditions for restoration and strengthening of health of children, with whom we have linked the brightest hopes of future from time immemorial.
To surround children with all-round care and love – a defining line of mentality of Turkmen people. An efficient activity of the he Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Care created at the initiative of the National Leader of the Turkmen people can attest best to this fact.
It has become a regular practice to allot funds from the Foundation to various operations to be made in medical institutions of the capital and velayats of the country and necessary medical-diagnostic procedures to children in need of guardianship and to payment of expenses on acquisition of the equipment and medical preparations for young Turkmen nationals, who are brought up and educated in children's homes and boarding schools.
Thanks to the Foundation, paediatric units of hospitals of etraps and cities of velayats have received modern ambulance cars «First aids» completed with the necessary equipment. And this year haemodialysis devices «Dialog +» (artificial kidney), allowing to improve quality and to increase life expectancy of the patients, suffering from chronic nephritic dysfunction were provided as gift to establishments of public health services of all five regions.
According to the adopted Government program «Saglyk» a great significance is given to modernisation of infrastructure of the branch, active introduction of innovative technologies, the best world experience and achievements. In this connection, within intensification of international cooperation close contacts were established with leading medical institutions and research centres of the planet.
Positive experience of our country in the field of modernisation of system of public health services has received a wide recognition of world community and authoritative international organisations, including the United Nations and its specialised structures - WHO, UNICEF.
long-term productive partnership is carried out on a wide spectrum of areas, including prevention and control of infectious and non-infectious diseases, tobacco smoking, healthy food, strengthening of system of public health services, conduction of scientific-practical conferences and seminars on achievement of sustainable development goals, organisation of meetings and sessions of "round tables” on topical issues of health protection and others.
The established fruitful dialogue with authoritative organisations allows Turkmen physicians to use the most effective techniques of diagnostics and treatment of various diseases. The international certificates received in recent years of elimination of some dangerous infectious diseases in the territory of Turkmenistan became an acknowledgement of reached powerful successes of national medicine.
It is necessary to note that the country has adopted a package of acts, national and government programs in the field of public health services, which are regularly updated according to requirements of the time and World Health Organization recommendations. Among them is the national strategy for prevention and combat of non-contagious diseases in Turkmenistan for 2021-2025; National program for increase of immunity of population in Turkmenistan for 2021-2025; National strategy «Healthy mother - healthy child - healthy future» on protection of health of mother and the child in Turkmenistan for 2021-2025 and others.
Taken measures directly promote maintenance of population with high quality medical services according to high international standards, allowing diagnosing and treating efficiently both widespread and rare diseases at an early stage.
Introduction of the latest methods of treatment also envisages preparation of highly skilled personnel and in this connection, Turkmen specialists regularly are sent to courses in leading medical centres of Europe and other countries.
So, during the meeting of the Government, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, speaking on importance of work carried out in the sphere of public health services, again drew the attention to necessities of granting high-quality services in medical institutions of the country and organisation of study trips for improvement of professional skill of doctors.
The head of the state also instructed to undertake henceforth appropriate measures for further development of pharmaceutical industry and maintenance of population with high quality medical products and means for protection of health in sufficient volume.
As known, in our country a number of pharmaceutical enterprises, which manufacture various medical preparations from non-polluting local raw materials, on the basis of curative plants of the Turkmen land, were already put into operation. Now, this work successfully proceeds. So, in the city of Turkmenabat of Lebap velayat, construction of the enterprise for manufacture of glycyrrhizic acid on the basis of processing of lirqroice root, which will be included into the complex structure «Buýan» goes on at a full speed.
One can by right call the present high level of health protection one of the most significant achievements of our sovereign fatherland.
It is necessary to point out that the peculiarity of national system of public health services is wide preventative work - prevention and diagnose of illnesses at an early stage that directly serves decrease in indicators of disease among the population, to increase in duration of its active and high-grade life.
As the major component of large-scale work carried out in the given area, development of preventative and personalised medicine with application of natural medical factors in particular, perfection of sanatorium services allowing purposefully and highly effectively improvement and rehabilitation of patients act.
The climate, a variety of natural landscapes and resources of our country, unique in composition of mineral waters and medical mud helping healing from many illnesses, directly promote development of resort sphere.
Being guided by a key principle of the policy «State - for people!», become a defining element in development of national medicine, all over the country a whole network of the sanatorium establishments giving the population a wide spectrum of services functions.
The latest health improving technologies applied here, created comfortable conditions for rest and treatment promote recovery of health, improvement of weariness, restore vivacity and vigour of people.
The year round numerous patients are admitted into sanatoria «Archman», «Ýyly suw» and «Bagabat» in Akhal velayat, «Mollagara» and «Avaza» in Balkan velayat, «Dashoguz» in the northern region of the country, «Farap» in Lebap velayat, «Bayramaly» in Mary velayat and «Berzeňňi» in Ashgabat.
Thus, the planned work is carried out on a regular basis to reconstruct these resorts. So, according to the Resolution of the head of the state signed in October, 2023, the work on construction of an additional complex of buildings and reconstruction of the complexes «A» and «B» in the sanatorium «Archman» in Baherden etrap of Akhal velayat, took a start.

The main objective of implementation of this large-scale project - realisation of enormous potential of seaside, which has been by right recognized as a unique pearl of the Turkmen land.
Today, health protection of people represents an all-round system including, in addition, solution of important ecological problems, including tree planting in cities and villages; development of infrastructure of productive leisure; creation of conditions, possibilities and motivation of the population for leading the healthy way of life and refusal of bad habits, in particular, from tobacco smoking.
In the given context, physical culture and sports are considered as basic factors of public health. In large-scale preventative work, the great attention is given to expansion of physical health improving movement, active involvement of Turkmen nationals in various sports.
These goals are served directly by formation of modern sports infrastructure. According to the National Program for the Support and Development of Physical Culture and Sports in Turkmenistan for 2021-2025 in the country are constructed and stadiums, horse-racing complexes, motordromes, tennis courts, swimming pools and other modern profile objects continue to be erected.
It is remarkable that a sports component - an indispensable condition at construction of educational and preschool centres, and arrangement of zones for productive leisure and athletic fields acts as an integral requirement at erection of populated areas that promotes strengthening of health of the population, first of all the growing generation.
Announcement of the 3rd June as World Bicycle day at the initiative of Turkmenistan became a vivid evidence of appreciation and recognition of successes of our country in sports development, advancement of values of physical and health movement by the world community. On the occasion of this date our fatherland annually hosts mass bicycle races with participation of numerous supporters of healthy way of life.
As a member of the International Olympic Committee, the Olympic Council of Asia and UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee for Physical Education and Sport, Turkmenistan brings a worthy contribution to development of the Olympic movement, realisation of its humanistic principles - consolidation of peace and consent in the planet, friendship between countries and people at regional and global levels.
Development of Turkmen sports into the higher level was promoted by emergence of an Olympic village in Ashgabat, which has no analogue in Central Asia. There, in 2017 with great success the V Asian indoor and martial arts games were held, opening a new bright page in the history of national sports.
This event marked transition of Turkmenistan into the category of the countries capable at high level to organise large tournaments and also testifies to success of the sports diplomacy realised in interests of universal peace and well-being.
Prestige of Turkmenistan as the states where all conditions for international competitions are created, have even more raised with the International auto rally "Amul-Hazar" in 2018 and World championship in weightlifting as well as 14th World championship in kurash in November, 2023.
The International tournament in ice hockey became a significant event of this year, Turkmen hockey club «Galkan» won the 1st place and main prize.
The sports reputation of the country was strengthened by announcement of Ashgabat the City of new sports possibilities of the Commonwealth. As known, the given decision was adopted unanimously within the regular meeting of the Council of heads of the governments of the CIS held in the capital on May 24, becoming an unforgettable gift for Turkmen nationals on the eve of Ashgabat City Day.
One more recognition of a powerful contribution of Turkmenistan in development of world sports - announcement of the tennis complex of the capital Olympic village «Educational and training centre of the Asian region» and award of the corresponding certificate of the Asian Tennis Federation.
Emergence of a whole galaxy of young talented sportsmen adequately representing our sovereign fatherland in large global competitions and bringing their due contribution in strengthening of its sports image on the world scene became a vivid acknowledgement of success of reforms carried out in the system of national sports.
In 2021, new bright pages were opened in the history of national sports. As known, at the XXXII Summer Olympic Games, which took place in Tokyo (Japan), our compatriot Polina Guryeva, acting in tournament in weightlifting, won a silver medal, which became the first Olympic award in the history of Turkmenistan.
This high achievement inspired national sportsmen into further sharpening of their skill.
So, only from the beginning of this year our sportsmen who have taken part in a number of prestigious international competitions, have won 122 gold, 103 silver and 136 bronze medals. These remarkable victories no doubt have become a result of not only their laborious work and purposefulness, but also fine conditions created at the state level for practice of various sports.
Nowadays, all Turkmen nationals watch closely performances of our brave athletes who have an opportunity to represent our fatherland in the XXXIII Summer Olympic Games held in Paris, the capital of France -sincerely wishing them new victories by strengthening the authority of Turkmenistan as young sports power.
Thus, the presented review of successes and achievements in public health services and sports spheres vividly attest to efficiency and demand of socially focused policy pursued by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov as a corner stone of which, all-round care of the person, its health and well-being acts.
