Turkmenistan continues active preparations for the upcoming 7th of July elections of Mejlis deputies in constituencies №1 «Garaşsyzlyk», №2 «Bitaraplyk» and №6 «Köpetdag» in the city of Ashgabat to replace those who retired early. As is known, the main principle of the current campaign, like all previous ones, is a broad alternative basis, which is an indispensable condition for further strengthening the age-old democratic traditions in the life of Turkmen society.
These days, in accordance with the current legislation in the country, the election campaign continues, during which candidates for deputies of the national parliament hold meetings with the electorate.
At these meetings, voters get acquainted with the professional and organizational qualities, the main directions of the candidates’ election programs, the essence of which is the intention to ensure the progress and prosperity of Turkmenistan and increase the well-being of the native people.
During an interested conversation about the further development of the country, candidates answer numerous questions from voters, specifying the provisions of their election platform and assuring that they will apply their knowledge, abilities, experience and efforts to implement the grandiose transformation programs initiated by the National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and successfully implemented President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
All registered candidates, in accordance with national electoral legislation and international law, are given equal rights and opportunities to organize meetings with voters within their constituency.
It should be noted that the right to represent their constituencies in the national parliament is contested by the most worthy people who enjoy great respect and trust of their compatriots.
Lists and biographies of registered candidates were published in the central and local press, and candidates presented their election programs on national television.
Preparations for the elections are widely covered in the media of our country, including a video with a call for elections, which was shown on television channels for the general public. Current information about elections is published on the website of the Central Commission for Elections and Referendums in Turkmenistan.
It is important to note that the electoral legislation of Turkmenistan has undergone significant changes towards greater openness, publicity, democracy and is fully consistent with generally accepted norms of international law. Thus, three political parties took advantage of the right to nominate candidates for deputies of the Mejlis: Democratic, Agrarian and the Party of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs. Some candidates were nominated by groups of citizens.
The necessary conditions have been created for the work of national observers, which indicates the openness and transparency of the electoral process.
The current election campaign is designed to increase the civic consciousness of the country's society, which is confidently following the path of deepening democracy, socio-political reforms and the establishment of the principles of genuine democracy.
