Today, in Turkmenistan a significant date - 79th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 was solemnly marked. This day we bow our heads in memory of our fathers and grandfathers who selflessly protected our land for the happiness of future generations.  

Hard years of the most bloody of war of humankind in history went into the remote past. However, it is impossible to forget traces of its tragic events left in the hearts. The Turkmen people brought a worthy contribution to Great Victory, thousands of our brave sons fell in cruel battles. For the courage shown in days of the Great Patriotic War over hundreds of Turkmen nationals were awarded the high rank of Hero.

Victory was impossible without self-denying work of workers of the home front, which was relied on shoulders of women, old men and teenagers. They showed unprecedented heroism in manufacture, made warm clothes for front-line soldiers, handed their jewels to the fund of defence, obtained harvests to last grain of wheat, to last box of cotton, thereby having shown an unprecedented example of firmness, solidarity and philanthropy.

The Great Victory is also of great importance from the historical point of view, and for patriotic education of the growing generation. For unprecedented endurance and fearlessness of veterans of war and workers of the home front, their life became an example of selfless service to our people and fatherland.

Our youth has whom to follow.  The glory of our courageous and brave ancestors, who defended freedom in the Great Patriotic War, entered in the history of people with golden letters. Thousands of our fellow compatriots displayed unprecedented boldness, fidelity to their duty and to their native land in war. Among them - Berdimuhamed Annayev - great-grandfather of head of the state Serdar Berdimuhamedov and grandfather of the National Leader of the Turkmen people.

One of the firm foundations of Turkmen society is the sacred tradition to honour national heroes, among which, of course, participants of the bloodiest war. 

In the present period in our country Victory Day is marked in an especially way solemnly, personifying thereby indissoluble link of generations, invariable adherence of the Turkmen state to principles of peace, humanism, consent and creation. On the threshold of this significant date in the year «The Fount of Wisdom of Magtymguly Fragi» in educational institutions of Turkmenistan meetings with representatives of the senior generation, thematic exhibitions, literary events, solemn actions, competitions were held.

National heroes are comprehensively surrounded with constant care of the state and health of veterans, improvement of social conditions of their life are given a great priority. Veterans of the fiery forties and self-denying workers of the home front and soldier's widows in honour of Great Victory on behalf of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov were given cash gifts and costly presents. 

The death of the best sons of the nation became irreplaceable loss and evoked pain in each family. Names of all Turkmen soldiers, both those who fell and who have come back home, were brought into the memory books «Hatyra» and «Şöhrat» in multivolume editions of which contain data on the fighting feat of Turkmen nationals in the Great Patriotic War. 

In the festive message of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to the people of Turkmenistan and veterans it is underlined that 1941-1945 - the most ruthless and at the same time most mournful period of world history when aggressive and extortionate war carried away lives of millions of people and led to irreplaceable losses, having left never healing wounds. From the very beginning of that ruthless war, which lasted for 1418 days, our compatriots voluntarily went to the war, where side by side fought against the enemy with fraternal people and displayed unprecedented bravery and courage.

As is marked in the message of the head of Turkmenistan, in the Era of Revival of the New Epoch of the Powerful State, we highly honour representatives of the senior generation, whose valour and wonderful life serve us a good example. They, self-denyingly showing military and labour heroism for freedom of humanity, brought glorious Victory closer. 

… Early in the morning, by the developed noble traditions, heads and representatives of public organisations, military and law enforcement bodies, ministries and departments, honourable elders and grey-haired mothers, numerous residents of Ashgabat and visitors of the capital gathered in the Memorial complex «Halk hakydasy» to honour the memory of those who fell for the bright future of the present and future generations.

Annually, on May 9, people of different ages and nationalities come to this monument by the call of their hearts, by the will of their souls to pay a tribute to the memory of the heroes who perished in the bloodiest war of humanity. 

With every passing year the number of those, in honour of whom in the remote 1945 salvoes were fired for the victory in the Great Patriotic War for our happiness and well-being, becomes lesser.  

The National anthem of Turkmenistan sounds. 

In the Guard of honour young soldiers, successors of military traditions of the Turkmen people, patriotic admonishments of our courageous ancestors, form lines. 

At the foot of the monument «Baky şöhrat» a wonderful wreath from President Serdar Berdimuhamedov is laid. 

And then all participants of the ceremony with feeling of deep respect laid flowers at the foot of the monument. 

Recognition of Turkmenistan as a regional peace-making centre became a bright expression of continuity of the best traditions of our people and a worthy tribute of feat of our ancestors. Being guided by the legal status of neutrality, independent Turkmenistan makes huge efforts for strengthening of peace on the planet, promotion of friendly and brotherly relations, expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation with foreign states, strengthening of trust and mutual understanding.   

Creative initiatives of Hero-Arkadag Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov nowadays are successfully realised by Arkadagly Hero Serdar and find a complete support of the world community as a reliable platform for productive international interaction.

Progressive transformations carried out under the leadership of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov in the Era of Revival of the New Epoch of the Powerful State are aimed at prosperity of our fatherland and well-being of Turkmen nationals. The epoch of great changes has covered all aspects of life of our country: rapidly changing shape of the capital, cities and villages, construction of convenient apartment houses, modern educational and medical institutions, sports complexes, industrial enterprises and others.

For present successes, we are obliged to those who in military years fought on fields of battles and self-denyingly worked for victory - to the feat of our compatriots who gave their lives for independence of our fatherland and people.   

Today veterans are proud of achievements of our fatherland, the President of the country, the younger generation, who live the peaceful time and before whom brilliant prospects open. Indeed, for this they fought against the enemy.  

Our deep gratitude to our national heroes who at the cost of their life brought a long-awaited Victory Day closer! May their memory live for ever and their glory be eternal for our happy present and future!
