President Serdar Berdimuhamedov sent heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to President of the Republic of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on the occasion of his 70th birthday.

“For many years, working in various senior government positions, you pay great attention to the consistent development of your country, protecting the interests of the people and implementing national strategies and programs. Under your visionary leadership, the Republic of Türkiye is currently making a worthy contribution to ensuring global peace and sustainable development, and has earned enormous respect and authority in the region and far beyond its borders,” the message says.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized that “one of the important directions of Turkmenistan’s foreign policy is the consistent development and strengthening of strategic and long-term relations with the Republic of Türkiye in various areas. Our cooperation is based on the unbreakable friendship and brotherhood of our peoples, originating from the depths of centuries, common history, language and religion.

In interstate cooperation, we always proceed from the basic principle of “One Nation – Two States.” And this, in turn, serves as a solid basis for coordinated actions of Turkmenistan and Türkiye both at the bilateral level and in the international arena.

It is gratifying to note that our relations are currently up-to-date improving in political-diplomatic, trade-economic, cultural-humanitarian and other areas. 

It should be noted that our political cooperation is characterized by mutual understanding and progress. We highly appreciate Türkiye’s support for the foreign policy course of Turkmenistan’s neutrality and the initiatives put forward.

Our countries consistently advocate maintaining global peace and security, and uniting the efforts of the international community in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. And this is clearly manifested in the reliable and close cooperation of Turkmenistan and Türkiye within the framework of international organizations, primarily the United Nations. 

I would like to note that in recent years Turkmenistan has been actively participating in the work of the Organization of Turkic States. We aim to further develop dialogue within the framework of this Organization as an instrument of multilateral cooperation between the Turkic peoples, based on our common history and geographical proximity.

It is gratifying to note that from year to year new milestones are being achieved in the trade and economic field. The Republic of Türkiye is one of the largest countries in foreign trade relations of Turkmenistan. Numerous Turkish companies, participating in the implementation of economic projects in our country, facilitate the diversification of the national economy and the implementation of social projects.

Culture, art, science and education occupy an important place in relationships between Turkmenistan and Turkey. This is of great importance in developing cooperation, preserving and promoting common cultural and historical heritage, bringing the Turkmen and Turkish peoples closer, strengthening mutual understanding and trust.

You are widely known in Turkmenistan and enjoy great respect as a true friend, and wise, far-sighted statesman.

As a high appreciation of Your work, in 2021 you were awarded the Order of Turkmenistan “Hyzmatdaşlygy ösdürmäge goşan goşandy üçin” (“For contribution to the development of cooperation”).

Following the ancient traditions of the Turkmen people of good neighborliness and respect for the older generation, appreciating your enormous personal contribution to the development of Turkmen-Turkish relations, it was decided to assign your services aimed at the unity of our peoples, as well as on the occasion of the 70th anniversary, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, honorary title “Hormatly il ýaşulusy” of Turkmenistan.”

Taking advantage of this pleasant opportunity, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, on behalf of the entire Turkmen people, cordially congratulated President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on receiving this high title and expressed wishes for good health, happiness and family well-being, as well as for peace, further progress and prosperity to the brotherly people of the Turkish Republic.
