Cooperation Forum “Central Asia-Republic of Korea”: meetings of Business Councils

Today, on the margins of the 16th Cooperation Forum “Central Asia-Republic of Korea”, the 5th meeting of the Business Council “Turkmenistan- Republic of Korea” took place.

Representatives of a number of ministries and sectoral departments, including the fuel and energy complex, transport sector, textile industry, water management, Chamber of Commerce and Industry of our country as well as Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Korea, Korean International Trade Associations (KITA) and Korean Textile Trade Association (KTTA), Korea Institute of Industrial Technologies(KITECH), companies specialized in various spheres took part in the meeting, which was held in the Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Having stated importance of intensification of economic relations, participants of the meeting considered ways of expansion of partnership in such areas as energy, textile industry, public health services, ecology, transport-communications sector, oil and gas complex, rural and water management, sphere of high technologies, science and education, tourism and others. 

A long-term character of interaction of Turkmenistan with leading Korean companies with participation of which, joint projects for construction of large industrial complexes were realized, was especially marked. Construction of the natural gas desulphurization plant at the deposit “Galkynysh” and modernization of Turkmenbashi oil refineries complex, construction of the gas chemical complex for polyethylene and polypropylene manufacture in the settlement of Kiyanly in Balkan velayat can serve a good example for it. Buses and cars of Korean manufacture also make up a considerable part of the park of public transport in our country.

During the meeting, members of the delegation of the Republic of Korea were in detail acquainted with successes of independent neutral Turkmenistan reached thanks to the creative policy pursued by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov. In particular, in reports the indicators confirming achievements of national social and economic development, presence of huge resource and export potential of leading branches of economy were pointed out.

A special emphasis was made that Korean high science intensive technologies evoke a great interest of our country in the light of the concept aimed at wide introduction of digital system and attraction of the best world experience in this area.

In mutual opinion of participants, the outcome of the meeting in which a detailed exchange of opinions on prospects of Turkmen-Korean partnership took place, called to promote achievement of concrete results for further successful development of long-term mutually beneficial cooperation in a wide range of areas.

Today, in the small conference hall of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the 4th meeting of the Business Council “Central Asia-Republic Korea” took place.

Prospect and possibility of creation of additional conditions for business circles of participating countries for strengthening trade and economic relations at the regional level and proposals on intensification of activity of the given structure, including a wide use of digital technologies served as points of discussion.

According to the agenda, such topics as “Investment climate in the sphere of digital transformation of industry and transport/logistics in countries of Central Asia and mutual investment possibilities”, “Experience of Korean companies working or wishing to enter into the sphere of industrial digital transformation and transport/logistics in Central Asia” were also considered.

Participants of the meeting stated with satisfaction that in recent years the dialogue in the format “Central Asia - Republic of Korea” was brought out to a qualitatively new level of development. A practical embodiment of reached agreements on the margins of the Business Council gave a powerful impulse to further deepening of relations between participating countries of the Forum and implementation of solid potential of six-sided partnership.

Participation of heads and experts of leading companies of the Republic of Korea - recognized world leaders of high technologies in the present Forum speaks of a steady growth of interest of Korean businessmen in expansion of their presence in promising markets of states of Central Asia. In this connection, business circles of the friendly state stated their readiness to give the latest scientific and industrial solutions for implementation of joint projects of national and regional significance.

At the end of the event, the gathered underlined importance of the activity of the Business Council in the context of development of effective model of cooperation meeting the spirit of the age and partnership on equal rights.

Besides it, the report on activity of the Business council “Central Asia –Republic of Korea “for 2023 and proposals on the Actions plan for 2024 were heard.
