The run along the eastern part of the Path of Health from Chandybil Avenue of the capital to the Centre of Broadcasting “Turkmenistan”, which is more than 18 kilometres, was the final fifth stage, which defined the winners of 2016. The total altitude from start to finish reaches 1320 meters there due to repeating slopes and rises. The round was organized by the State Committee for Sport and the Hyakimlik of Archabil etrap. The beginning part of the trace, running across the foothills of the Kopetdag, allowed the members to compete in speed run. The victory on the final part of the track was defined by sharp and continuous rise to the slope of the range with different gradients. Experienced long-distance runner Perhat Annagylyjov finished with record time in 1 hour 45 minutes 13 seconds. Yazgeldy Odeniyazov from Balkanabat, the winner of recent “vertical kilometre” sprint to the Arlan Mountain of the Big Balhan, finished the race ten minutes later. The third best result was demonstrated by Alekper Ahmedov from Ashgabat, who finished the race in 2 hours 5 minutes. Anastasia Aysina was the leader of the fifth stage of the competition among the women. The award ceremony of the winners of Turkmenistan Skyrunning Cup, who scored the best results by the outcomes of five rounds on the slopes of the Kopetdag and Big Balhan Mountains in 2016, was held at the same spot, on the Path of Health. Ashgabat athletes who demonstrated stable results throughout the season occupied the whole podium. Alekper Ahmedov from “Agama” club, who permanently finishes among the leaders of the rounds, becomes the winner of the Cup for the second year in a row. Arslan Annamamedov won the silver and Dmitry Vinokurov took the bronze award. Rena Agahanova was a winner in women competitions. Nadejda Kostova and Anastasia Aysina were the silver and bronze prize-winners accordingly. The skyrunning, being actively developed, gains more popularity in all regions of the country increasing the number of participants.
