On December 9, a Martial Arts Complex of the capital’s Olympic Village hosted an opening ceremony of the Asian Jujitsu Championship, which gathered together several hundreds of participants from 24 countries, including China, Japan, the Republic of Korea, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Nepal, etc. On the first day of competitions the athletes of Turkmenistan won 16 prizes (three gold, four silver and nine bronze medals). This allowed our national team to take first place in the team rating. The female part of our team achieved particular success. The first victory in the national team of Turkmenistan was won by Amina Halyllaeva, who performed in the weight category up to 45 kilograms. In the final fight she won the 2:0 victory over her compatriot Dinara Jumadurdyeva. Another gold medal was won by Ogulnar Atdaeva (under 62 kg) who also defeated her countrywoman Myahri Akmuradova in the final fight. Turkmen athletes gained a victory in the final fight in the weight category over 70 kg, where Violeta Krovyakova defeated Zyba Orunova. Second prize winner in the Turkmen team was Sabina Agajanova; the third-placed were - Rahat Kurbanov (under 77 kg), Jonibek Atajanov (under 85 kg), Zafar Madaminov, Nasibjan Izbasarov (both over 94 kg), Patma Hojieva (under 62 kg), Lyale Nuryeva (under 70 kg), Guncha Seyitmyradova (over 70 kg), Zebo Yagshieva and Aygul Babayeva (both under 45 kg).
