Ashgabat and Tehran discussed the development of cooperation in the Caspian Sea

Issues of development of the Turkmen-Iranian cooperation in the Caspian Sea were discussed during the meeting of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who is on a working visit to Tehran, with the President of Iran Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi.

At the talks, it was stated that an important place in relations between Turkmenistan and Iran is given to issues related to the Caspian Sea. According to the sides, the current geopolitical processes in the region require the intensification of joint efforts to strengthen joint regional security. The parties noted the importance of the specific agreements reached following the results of the Sixth Caspian Summit of the heads of state of the region held in Ashgabat on the 29th ofJune, 2022. Along with this, the importance of the Caspian basin was emphasized not only in the political aspect, but also from the economic point of view, and the presence of strategic opportunities for enhancing cooperation in this area was stated.
