Turkmenistan proposed to create a mechanism of multilateral consultations in the format «Central Asia - China»

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov proposed to create a mechanism of multilateral consultations in the format «Central Asia - China». The head of state stated this while speaking at the first Central Asia-China Summit, held in the ancient Chinese city of Xi'an.

In his speech, the President of the country noted that Turkmenistan consistently stands for equality and justice in interstate relations, unconditional respect for territorial integrity and non-interference in the internal affairs of sovereign states, for the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals, supports the measures taken by the world community to counter terrorism, extremism, drug trafficking, new challenges in the field of cyber and bio-security.

«Using our authority and establishing an effective mechanism for multilateral interaction within our format, we will be able to make a significant contribution to establishing a new agenda of peace and trust in international relations, reducing tension, de-escalating conflicts, moving to dialogue and negotiation methods for resolving disputes and contradictions based on the Charter UN», -the head of state said.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized the relevance of political culture, which is an indicator of readiness and ability for a constructive, respectful and equal dialogue.

«I take this opportunity to express my gratitude to all the Heads of State of our format for their support in the adoption of the resolution of the UN General Assembly «International Year of Dialogue as a Guarantee of Peace, 2023», presented by the Turkmen side on the basis of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan proclaimed in December 2021 Gurbanguly Malikgulyyevich Berdimuhamedov, the global initiative «Dialogue is a guarantee of peace», -the head of state said.

The President of Turkmenistan expressed his firm confidence that the culture of respectful dialogue and adherence to the traditions of peaceful and trusting coexistence, joint work to strengthen security and stability, the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals can become a solid basis for consolidating multilateral efforts in promoting a new philosophy of international relations.

«In this context, emphasizing the relevance of establishing coordinated actions between the foreign ministries of Central Asia and China on the bilateral and multilateral tracks, I propose to consider the possibility of creating mechanisms for multilateral consultations, the purpose of which will be to systematize and review the implementation of the agreements reached. This is the only way we will be able to control the implementation of initiatives and proposals put forward by the Heads of State at the Central Asia-China Summits», -President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized.
