On the weekends, the capital of Belarus hosted the CIS Open Cup – World ITF Taekwondo Cup, where Turkmen sportsmen demonstrated a high level of professionalism. They won nine medals - four gold, two silver and three bronze ones. Some 1,000 participants from almost twenty countries of the world - Korea, Russia, Slovenia, Finland, Armenia, Lithuania, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, and others – arrived in Minsk to participate in the competitions which were held in the sport complex “Minsk-arena”. The event included several disciplines of wrestling among the juniors and adults. Most notable was the success achieved by the Turkmen junior team. Orazmyrat Charyev (under 18) won three gold medals in the complex exercises (tuli) – in the individual and team events. Twice he took the highest step of the pedestal. In the second case, he won the gold medal with the support of Orazmuhammet Ustaev, Hoshgeldi Rozyev, Amangeldi Atadjanov and Guvanch Orazberdiev. The third “gold” trophy Charyev got in the competitions in the weight category under 57 kg, when for several seconds before the final gong he knocked out his rival from Tajikistan. One more “gold” was won by Goshaniyaz Durdyev. Two medals (gold and bronze) won Orazmuhammet Ustaev; Gaigysyz Atabaev became a vice-champion; “bronze” winner – Amanberdy Agadjanov. In the female team, Myahri Agaeva took the third place in the individual tulies.
