The capital of Kazakhstan, Astana, hosted the World Belt Wrestling Championship among the juniors born in 1999-2001, where our athletes gained major success and won13 medals – 3 golden, 5 silver and 5 bronze ones. This ensured that our national team was second in the team overall event. Several hundreds of athletes from 15 countries, including Russia, Mongolia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, etc., participated in the competition. The “gold winners” in our country’s national team were Hekim Kakalyyev (under 45 kg weight category), Tagantach Guchmammedov (under 55 kg) and Palvan Jumakov (under 50 kg). On the way towards the “gold”, they won three resolute victories each. Ilyas Rahmanov (under 50 kg), Mekan Bekmuradov (under 55 kg), Palvan Gurbangeldiyev (under 60 kg), Atageldi Tagandurdyyev (under 65 kg) and Ali Meredov (under 95 kg) won the vice-champion titles. The third step of pedestal was taken by Agajan Tachmuhammedov (under 65 kg), Hakberdi Islamov (under 71 kg), Yazmammet Atayev, Nurberdi Nurberdiyev (both in the under 80 kg weight category) and Jemal Ovlyakuliyeva (under 63 kg).
