Today, a briefing was held at which the head of the Central Commission for Elections and Referendums in Turkmenistan announced preliminary results of the elections of deputies of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, members of the Khalk Maslakhaty and Gengeshes for velayats, etraps and cities.

Correspondents of foreign and national information agencies, electronic, print and other mass media as well as international observers attended the event.

Before announcement of preliminary results of elections, the chairman of the Central Commission for Elections informed in detail the present on the large-scale work carried out to prepare and organize this important political event and thanked all participants of the election process. A special gratitude was expressed to representatives of the mass media, which supported with information of the campaign at its all stages.

It is necessary to note that the course of elections was observed by national observers, who were nominated by political parties, public organizations and groups of citizens, and also international observers from the Commonwealth of Independent States, Bureau for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Organization of Turkic States, Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

As observers who monitored the campaign, consider, the elections became the next important step on the path of realization of the progressive policy of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and consolidation of democratic bases of life of Turkmen society. This significant political event has visually demonstrated an active participation of Turkmen nationals in the affairs of the state for the bright future of the country and its people.

Developing upon preliminary results of elections, it was pointed out that in voting without taking into account some data, which continued to arrive from election committees abroad, over 91 percent of voters who were included in lists of voters took part and it testifies to high civil activity of population, its conscious aspiration to be a direct participant of further process of democratic transformations in Turkmenistan, developed at the initiative of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and successfully realized by the President of the country in all spheres of life of Fatherland during the Era of Revival of the New Epoch of the Powerful State.

For voters, who could not be on the election day at their place of residence, possibility of preschedule voting from March 16 to March 25, 2023 was provided.

In total by the country 2644 polling stations, including 42 - operated at diplomatic representatives and consulates of Turkmenistan abroad.

According to the data given by the Central Commission for Elections, elections were recognised successful. 

At present, the final counting of votes of voters with taking into account the data from some polling stations at diplomatic missions and consular offices of Turkmenistan abroad, which arrive with delay because of difference in time zones, is carried out. But, already with confidence it is possible to state that the united and cohesive Turkmen people once again voted for primordial traditions of democracy which underlie democratic foundations of our society, present large-scale reforms and transformations.

As was marked, elections were held at high organizational level, in the atmosphere of general enthusiasm and high emotional uplift. It was promoted also by active participation in the multifaceted work for organization of the present political event by employees of corresponding ministries and departments, political parties and associations, enterprises, organisations and establishments, foreign visitors, who  represent the Mission of observers, mass media in highlighting widely all stages of preparatory process and directly course of elections.

The final results of voting will be calculated and made public in the near future.
