The national Harvest Festival was countrywide celebrated on the last Sunday of November. Having successfully met the obligations undertaken, Turkmen cotton growers produced more than 1,050,000 tons of raw cotton. Turkmen grain growers have also met their commitments, having delivered to the country’s state bin more than 1,600,000 thousand tons of select wheat. Significant progress was also made by the producers of fruits, vegetables and melons. Exhibitions and fairs, demonstrating the generosity of the native land, were organized in all regions of the country. By tradition, the capital was the venue for the main festive events. Representatives of the advanced farms and skilled crop growers came to the capital from all regions to participate in the Harvest Festival. Earlier, the Public Organizations Complex in association with the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources, the State Food Industry Association and the National Trade Unions Center of Turkmenistan hosted a grand ceremony of summing up the results of the agricultural year and discussing the issues of further development of the agrarian sector and agribusinesses. During the meeting, the winners of the competition announced by the trade unions among the cotton growers, combine operators, machine operators, and melon growers were awarded diplomas and valuable gifts. Major celebrations and actions of the Festival were concentrated in the square of the Ashgabat Equestrian Complex. One such was a large exhibition of the agro-industrial complex achievements. The event brought together the government officials, heads and representatives of relevant ministries and departments, public organizations, media, as well as students, many residents and visitors of the capital city. Creative groups and children’s ensembles welcomed the participants in the event with colorful dramatized performances and music-song compositions. A generous festive table, prepared by the sector’s institutions and enterprises, was at the dossal of the participants of the exhibition. Special attention was given to the achievements in the cotton ginning industry. On display were the best grades of medium- and highly valuable long-staple cotton - the result of the over-year work of Turkmen breeders. In addition, the exhibition widely displayed other agricultural products, as well as a typical tomato-producing greenhouse. One of the Festival’s exciting moments was the presentation of a beautiful Akhalteke horse named Galkynysh, which was donated to President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov on behalf of the workers of the country’s agro-industrial complex. The official part of the event was held on a specially equipped stage near the Main Office building of the Ashgabat Equestrian Complex. The names of leading specialists in the agrarian sector, who have achieved the highest successes this year and were awarded valuable gifts on behalf of the President of Turkmenistan, were promulgated from the rostrum. The celebrations in the capital’s Equestrian Complex were continued with horse races, organized on the occasion of the national holiday. By results of the races, its winners were awarded the deserved prizes.
