On November 22, a meeting of the Central Election and Referendum Committee (CEC) was held in Turkmenistan dedicated to the upcoming in February elections of the President of Turkmenistan, as well as to the results of the recent Mejlis Deputies elections, which were held in the three election constituencies. At the CEC meeting, attended by the CEC members and its working groups, responsible representatives of the political parties and public organizations, mass media, the velayats’ and Ashgabat city’s, the Election Committees’ chairmen informed about the implementation progress of the ongoing pre-election work. Currently, all polling stations are upgraded and equipped with the necessary material-and-technical devices, including special transparent ballot boxes, reference and methodological literature, office appliances, communications facilities, and many other things. As of today, 2,578 polling stations have been formed, including 39 polling stations intended for the citizens who will be away from their local polling stations on the Election Day (the absentee voting procedure) and for the diplomatic missions of Turkmenistan abroad. The following elected Deputies were registered in the Central Election Committee: in the “Dushak” election constituency #24, Akhal velayat – Serdar Gurbangulyevich Berdymuhamedov; in the election districts #119 “Atchapar” and #124 “Pendi”, Mary velayat – Govher Babajanovna Bairamova and Yusupguly Ashyrgulyevich Eshshaev appropriately. The newly-elected National Parliament Deputies were handed the deputy mandates. From then on, they are the authorized representatives of the nation in the country’s highest legislative body.
