Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Australia to Turkmenistan was accredited

Today, at the instruction of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, Chairwoman of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan G.Mammedova received credentials from Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Australia to Turkmenistan Greim Leslie Meehan.

On behalf of the head of state, the head of the national parliament congratulated the ambassador on his appointment to the responsible diplomatic post, wishing him success in strengthening ties of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

Having thanked for her good wishes, the ambassador, in his turn, conveyed warm greetings and best wishes to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov on behalf of Governor-General of Australia David Hurley.

During the conversation, the ambassador was informed on key aspects of state policy of Turkmenistan and main goals and objectives of programs of transformations being implemented in the country to ensure dynamic development of national economy, to improve the social sphere and enhance welfare of citizens. Historical and cultural traditions of Turkmen people became one of the topics of the meeting.

The diplomat was also familiarized with the structure and multifaceted activities of the Mejlis, first of all, within the framework of ongoing comprehensive modernization of the country's legal framework. In the given context, with a view of strengthening of mutual understanding and trust, expansion of the fruitful interstate dialogue, establishment of close interparliamentary relations was proposed.

On the margins of exchange of views on priorities of Turkmen-Australian partnership, participants of the meeting marked with satisfaction the existence of a huge potential for building up fruitful cooperation. Trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres were mentioned among key areas of bilateral ties. A particular emphasis was made on importance of further interaction within the framework of international organizations, primarily the United Nations.

In conclusion, the head of the Mejlis and the diplomat expressed confidence that in the near future relations between our states will develop into a full-scale partnership that meets realities of the present time and mutual interests and will successfully develop based on the goodwill of peoples of the two countries.
