Our compatriots won six medals at the Karate and Sambo World Championships in Romania and Bulgaria. Ashihara Karate World Championship in the Romanian town of Brasov, was participated by about 300 athletes from 20 countries. Our compatriots won two medals – silver and bronze. The second position at the victory pedestal was taken by Ashgabat sportsman Farhat Jumiev (under 80kg), who fought for awards among 12 athletes. Sofia (Bulgaria) launched the 41st Sambo World Championship among the men and women, gathering several hundred athletes from 80 countries in the “Arena Armeec” complex. During the two-day competition, the Turkmen sportsmen won four medals – silver and bronze in the combat version, and two “bronze” - in classic. Charymyrat Annagurbanov (under 100 kg) became vice-champion in our team, who fought for awards among 20 fighters. On the way to the final competition, he won the two confident victories, but in the decisive battle he lost in the acute struggle to Mikhail Mokhnatkin from Russia. Third place in the combat version of “self-defense without weapons” was taken by Kerimberdi Dovletov (under 62 kg). One more bronze award of the world championship was won by Tejen Tejenov (under 90 kg), who performed in the classic discipline. World-class athlete Gulbadam Babamuratova (under 52 kg), who fought for awards among 20 athletes, put the fourth award of the bronze casting into the treasury of our country’s sporting achievements.
