Today, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to Turkmenistan Michael Uwe Bierhoff, who presented his credentials to the head of state.
Expressing gratitude for the time devoted to the meeting, the diplomat conveyed to the President of the country warm greetings from the President of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz, who attach great importance to strengthening the traditional ties of friendship with independent neutral Turkmenistan.
Thanking for the kind words and congratulating the diplomat on his appointment to a responsible post, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov conveyed his best wishes to the top leadership of the friendly state, emphasizing the commitment of sovereign Turkmenistan to further strengthening and building up fruitful cooperation with Germany.
Recalling that this year is marked by the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations with Germany, which is one of the priority partners of Turkmenistan in the European Union, the head of state noted with satisfaction that during this period, bilateral relations have been successfully developed and strengthened on the basis of the principles of mutual respect, trust and openness. At present, our countries are fruitfully interacting in almost all spheres of interstate relations, including political-diplomatic, trade-economic, cultural-humanitarian areas.
During the meeting, it was noted that building up long-term full-scale cooperation with our country, which is dynamically developing under the leadership of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and confidently following the path of progressive reforms and transformations, is one of the strategic vectors of the foreign policy of Germany and the European Union as a whole.
An interested exchange of views took place on the current state and prospects of Turkmen-German relations, which are successfully developing both in a bilateral and multilateral format, within the framework of the United Nations and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe. President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the German plenipotentiary stressed that mutual support for various international initiatives and undertakings is a vivid example of a successful partnership between our states.
In this context, the mutual desire to diversify interaction that meets the interests of the two countries was stated. Among the key segments, the trade and economic sphere was designated. It was noted that Turkmenistan and Germany fruitfully cooperate in various industries, agriculture, the banking sector, as well as in the transport and communications sector. A number of the largest German companies have been successfully operating in the Turkmen market for a long time.
Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of intensifying ties in the humanitarian sphere, where the long-term Turkmen-German partnership in the field of healthcare serves as an exemplary example.
Once again expressing gratitude for the opportunity of a personal meeting and wishes of success in his work as the head of the German diplomatic mission in Turkmenistan, Michael Uwe Bierhoff assured President Serdar Berdimuhamedov that, for his part, he would contribute to the intensive development of traditionally friendly relations and the comprehensive expansion of cooperation, in the interests of our peoples.
