Today, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi at the Arkadag Hotel, who arrived in our country to participate in the VI Summit of the Heads of the Caspian States.
Having warmly greeted each other, the interlocutors noted with satisfaction the exceptionally fruitful nature of the established interstate dialogue, which in the modern era has acquired a new content. Clear evidence of this is the agreements reached during the recent official visit of the President of Turkmenistan to the Islamic Republic of Iran.
It was emphasized that our states, connected by geographic proximity and common historical and cultural roots, in mutual interests realize the existing huge potential for cooperation, which includes dozens of implemented and planned joint projects. Speaking about the prospects for traditional partnership, the hallmarks of which have always been trust and mutual respect, the parties spoke in favor of strengthening bilateral relations in all areas.
At the same time, it was noted that the concrete steps to be taken to develop mutually beneficial ties would directly contribute to the expansion of interstate trade and economic cooperation, which is reaching a new level today. Among the main areas of interstate dialogue, the gas and electricity sectors, transport and communications, construction, as well as agriculture, tourism and other industries were also identified. At the same time, emphasis was placed on the importance of the activities of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Iranian Commission in the intensification of bilateral relations.
The heads of the two neighboring states, also emphasizing the importance of stimulating fruitful humanitarian contacts, spoke in favor of building up traditional relations in the field of education, science and culture, as well as continuing the practice of organizing joint events.
