Various aspects of strengthening the Turkmen-Turkish inter-parliamentary relations were discussed during a telephone conversation between the Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the Chairman of the Grand National Assembly of the Republic of Turkey Mustafa Shentop.
Having exchanged congratulations on the occasion of Oraza Bayram, sacred for the entire Muslim Ummah, the interlocutors noted with satisfaction that in recent years the Turkmen-Turkish partnership has received a powerful impetus to development in various fields, including political, economic, cultural, humanitarian and a number of other areas.
The presence of great potential for further expansion and strengthening of inter-parliamentary ties, intensification of interaction between the legislative bodies of the two countries, as well as the exchange of experience through mutual consultations was especially noted.
Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty Milli Gengesh and Chairman of the Grand National Assembly of the Republic of Turkey expressed confidence that cooperation in the legal sphere will serve as an important tool for further strengthening Turkmen-Turkish relations in a wide range of areas based on the principles of equality, trust and mutual respect.

A telephone conversation also took place between the Chairwoman of the Mejlis Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan G. Mammedova and the Chairman of the Grand National Assembly of the Republic of Turkey Mustafa Shentop, during which the need for further development of inter-parliamentary multilateral formats of interaction with a view to the future was noted.
The important role of parliamentary diplomacy in the progressive development of fruitful Turkmen-Turkish relations and constructive inter-parliamentary dialogue was emphasized.
