Today, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Co-Chairman of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Russian Commission on Economic Cooperation Alexei Overchuk, who arrived in Ashgabat on a working visit at the head of the government delegation of his country.
Thanking for the time devoted to the audience and emphasizing the importance attached in Russia to strengthening ties with Turkmenistan, the guest conveyed warm greetings to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov from the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin, who addressed the head of state and in his face to all the Turkmen people congratulations on the 30th anniversary of the establishment of Turkmen-Russian diplomatic relations, wishes of peace and prosperity.
Taking this opportunity, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation congratulated the head of Turkmenistan on his convincing victory in the elections, wishing him success in his large-scale work at the highest state post.
Addressing the best wishes in return to the top leadership of Russia, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted with satisfaction the level of interstate relations that had been achieved, built on a solid foundation of strategic partnership that meets the interests of the two neighboring peoples.
As noted, our countries are successfully cooperating not only in a bilateral format, but also within the framework of international structures, as evidenced by the mutual support of international initiatives and proposals put forward within authoritative organizations of a global and regional scale.
In this regard, the Head of State emphasized the significance of the telephone conversation with President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, which took place the day before, during which the positive dynamics of the development of cooperation between the two friendly countries in the trade, economic, energy, cultural, humanitarian and other fields was noted, readiness was expressed for the comprehensive expansion of mutually beneficial contacts in the widest range of areas, realizing the huge potential of interstate cooperation.
During the meeting, the President of Turkmenistan and the Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Russian Federation discussed the current state and prospects for cooperation, noting the great potential for intensifying cooperation in key areas, including the trade, economic and fuel and energy sectors, agriculture, light and processing industry, transport and communications and a number of other priority areas. In this context, the role of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Russian Commission on Economic Cooperation was highlighted as an effective mechanism for implementing the agreements reached, building up and diversifying mutually beneficial economic ties.
During the meeting, mutual interest was expressed in enhancing interstate ties in the cultural and humanitarian sphere, including through science and education, and tourism. It was noted that there is a significant potential for expanding fruitful contacts in the field of sports, the promotion and development of which is given special importance in both countries. As the President of Turkmenistan emphasized, developing bilateral relations, we rely on the long-standing traditions of brotherhood and mutual sympathy of peoples, the commitment of our states to the principles of peacefulness and humanism. This is a good basis for cooperation and mutual understanding of important issues of global and regional development.
Noting the deep interest of the two states in continuing the established fruitful partnership, which resulted in a number of large-scale projects initiated in recent years, the President of Turkmenistan and the Deputy Head of the Government of the Russian Federation expressed confidence in the steady strengthening of traditional ties of friendship and multifaceted cooperation, successfully built on a bilateral and multilateral basis, primarily within the framework of authoritative international organizations and regional structures.
Particular emphasis was placed on partnership issues in the development of the Caspian Sea. In particular, the interlocutors discussed the possibilities of cooperation in the field of shipbuilding.
At the end of the meeting, the President and Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation expressed their confidence in the successful development of mutually beneficial interstate cooperation built on a long-term perspective.
