The Turkmen delegation consisting of representatives of the Executive Committee on Preparation for the Asian Games-2017 and the State Committee on Television, Radio Broadcasting and Cinematography took part in the 53rd General Assembly of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) on the Island of Bali, Indonesia. The working trip was undertaken in order to achieve the goals set by President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov for the study of international experience in the media sector, as well as in the field of sports journalism, expanding the scope of advertising and information campaign to promote the Asian Games-2017, and for the establishment of close partnership in this area. The forum that had gathered delegations of more than 200 broadcasting ABU member companies and other media agencies was held under the motto “Media for the Future”, and one of its topics was the V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games to take place in Ashgabat next year. The great interest of session attendees was aroused by statements of Turkmenistan representatives, who told about the key implementation areas of the large-scale project “Asian Games-2017”, including the organization of the Games’ media support. Conferences, seminars and joint meetings of ABU groups on the issues of software sharing, the use of modern equipment and advanced technologies in TV and radio broadcasting were held as part of the General Assembly of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union. During the sports group’s meetings, exchange of views and introduction to new trends in the coverage of major events took place. The Turkmen delegation held a presentation of the Asian Games-2017 with demonstration of video and informative reports. In particular, the presentations touched on such topics as equipment of the Olympic venues, volunteers training, as well as the preparation of bilingual dictionaries and thematic phrase books. Members of the Turkmen delegation met with Secretary General of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union Javad Mottaghi, and attended other events, organized as part of the Forum. In addition, the Asian Games-2017 was covered on the pages of the printed Bulletin of the 53rd ABU General Assembly. The article about the upcoming Games in the Turkmen capital points out that it is expected this large-scale sporting event will gather the record number of participants. More than 5000 athletes from 62 countries will compete for medals where the strongest of them will be identified in 21 sports. The athletes will be accompanied by about 2 thousand 500 coaches and more than 10 thousand foreign specialists. The Asian Games will be served by 10 thousand volunteers. It is supposed that the Games will collect up to 200 thousand fans from different countries. Special emphasis in the article is placed on the Olympic Village with more than 30 facilities, and the central 45 thousand-seat stadium which is to host the opening and closing ceremonies of the Asian Games-2017 held under the motto “Health. Enthusiasm. Friendship”.
