Today, a telephone conversation took place between current President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko.
Having warmly greeted his colleague, the leader of the nation said that, according to the outcomes of the presidential elections held on March 12, announced by the Central Election Commission, Serdar Berdimuhamedov was elected the new President of Turkmenistan, saying that he intends to continue his active, but already as Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Milli Gengesh.
The current head of Turkmen state took the opportunity to thank the President of the Republic of Belarus for his great personal contribution to the development of bilateral relations and fruitful cooperation.
In turn, President Alexander Lukashenko, congratulating the Turkmen leader on the successful presidential elections, noted that this social and political event aroused great interest among the world community and became another confirmation of the democratization of modern Turkmen society.
As was noted, under the leadership of current President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Turkmenistan has been confidently following the path of strengthening its statehood, dynamic socio-economic development, and raising its prestige in the international arena. Belarus highly appreciates the fact that, over the years, bilateral relations have acquired a new quality and reached the level of strategic partnership. In this regard, sincere wishes were expressed for further active work in the post of Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan for the benefit of the two countries and their peoples.
