Today, the telephone conversation has taken place between President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon.

The Tajik leader congratulated the head of the state with the successful snap elections for the post of the President of Turkmenistan, which demonstrated unity, consolidation and civil maturity of Turkmen nationals.

Availing of the opportunity, head of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon noted that under the leadership of head of the state Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Turkmenistan has recently changed beyond recognition and its international authority has grown significantly. Ashgabat has become the venue for large international meetings. As was underlined, Tajikistan always supports creative initiatives proposed by the Turkmen leader and is sincerely glad for successes of the brotherly people.

Having thanked his Tajik colleague for his kind words, the leader of the nation marked with satisfaction that by the outcome of the elections for the highest state post, announced by the Central elections committee of the country, Serdar Berdimuhamedov has been elected new President of Türkmenistan and stated that now he intends to continue actively his political activity as Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan.

In this connection, the head of the state expressed President Emomali Rahmon his acknowledgment for his great personal contribution to the development of bilateral relations between friendly countries as well as for fruitful joint work.

Having thanked for his kind words, the Tajik leader underlined that Tajikistan is firmly committed to the friendly relations with Turkmenistan, which being based upon principles of mutual respect, understanding and trust, have obtained a new meaning in recent years.

Further, in the conversation it was noted that for many years, an active joint work was carried out to expand and strengthen interrelations between two countries and they expressed confidence that the established constructive dialogue between Turkmenistan and Tajikistan will be further developed and strengthened steadily for the benefit of two brotherly peoples.

Further, the leader of the nation passed the receiver to newly elected President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

Having warmly greeted his colleague, the head of Tajikistan sincerely congratulated him with his election to the post of the President of Turkmenistan and wished him sound health, long life, wellbeing and great successes in his responsible activity at the highest state post.

Having sincerely thanked for his congratulation and kind wishes, Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed his readiness to continue the policy of the previous head of Turkmenistan aimed at further strengthening of multilateral partnership, support of proposals and initiatives to expand and deepen interaction between two friendly countries.

In conclusion, the interlocutors expressed firm confidence that brotherhood and cooperation which connect two people from time immemorial, will be successfully developed for the benefit of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Tajikistan.
