Today, Turkmenistan held presidential elections on an alternative basis, in which all candidates for the highest state post took part. This important socio-political campaign has become a new significant step towards further democratization of modern Turkmen society, strengthening the principles of genuine democracy inherent in the Turkmen people.

Held in an atmosphere of wide publicity and openness, the current elections have convincingly demonstrated the unity and cohesion of the Turkmen people, the Turkmen people’s awareness of high responsibility for the fate of the Motherland, confidently following the path of progressive development.

The candidates for the President of Turkmenistan, according to tradition, were among the first who came to the polling stations that simultaneously opened throughout the country at 7 a.m. sharp, where an atmosphere of general enthusiasm and high emotional uplift prevailed today. Here, as at all polling stations of the Motherland, as well as at diplomatic missions and consular offices of Turkmenistan in foreign countries, the presidential elections began with a solemn ceremony of raising the National Flag and singing the National Anthem of Turkmenistan.

Noting that all the opponents of the current election campaign are worthy and respected people, the candidates for the highest state post declared that they are united by a common goal – to make a significant contribution to large-scale transformations in Turkmenistan and expressed their conviction that the Turkmen people, sincerely expressing their will, will make the right and balanced decision, make a serious and responsible choice.

All candidates for the post of President of Turkmenistan fulfilled their civic duty to the Motherland:

Perhat Begenjov – at the polling station #50 of Turkmenabat city (Lebap velayat library);

Agajan Bekmyradov – at the polling station #6 of the Vekilbazar etrap of Mary velayat (the House of Culture of the gengeshlik named after Mollanepes);

Serdar Berdimuhamedov – at the polling station #48 of the Kopetdag etrap of Ashgabat city (specialized secondary school#68 named after Annanyaz Artyk);

Berdimammet Gurbanov – at the polling station #2 of the Avaza etrap of Balkan velayat (specialized secondary school#15);

Babamyrat Meredov – at the polling station #79 of the S.A.Niyazov etrap of Dashoguz velayat (secondary school#43);

Khydyr Nunnaev – at the polling station # 63 of the Kopetdag etrap of Ashgabat city (secondary school#88);

Maksat Odeshov – at the polling station #3 of the Turkmenbashi etrap of Dashoguz velayat (sports school No. 1);

Maksatmyrat Ovezgeldiyev – at the polling station #9 of Babadaikhan etrap of Akhal velayat (secondary school#23);

Kakageldi Saryev – at the polling station #36 of Mary city (sports school#8).

A clear confirmation of the broad alternative of the 2022 elections is the registration and participation of nine candidates. According to the current national legislation and the norms of international law, all of them were given equal rights and opportunities to conduct election campaigning, meetings with voters, and speeches in the media.

Running for the country’s President, the director of the financial and economic secondary vocational school of the Lebap velayat, Perhat Begenjov, highlighted that he would continue the large-scale transformations provided for by state programs. Full support will be provided to private entrepreneurship. Social policy will continue to be aimed at ensuring a high level of well-being of the population.

The main directions of the election program of the candidate for the President of Turkmenistan, deputy khyakim of Mary velayat Agajan Bekmyradov are further strengthening of the economic potential of Turkmenistan, systematic improvement of the standard of living of the people, continuation of work on the development of health, science and education, physical culture and sports.

In the election platform of candidate Serdar Berdimuhamedov, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, the main vector is the increase of Turkmenistan’s authority on the world stage, the further successful development of the country within the framework of the implementation of the key Program in this regard “The revival of a new era of a powerful state: The National program of socio-economic development of Turkmenistan in 2022-2052”.

Presidential candidate of Turkmenistan, chief physician of the Avaza Sanatorium of the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry, deputy of the Mejlis of Milli Gengesh Berdimammet Gurbanov intends to pay special attention to reforms in all areas of the national economy, especially in the fields of education and medicine, strengthening the economic power and international authority of the Motherland, improving the welfare of the Turkmen people.

The candidate for the highest state post, director of the Wepaly gurluşyk Economic Society Babamyrat Meredov, among the main provisions of his election program, noted the effective use of small and medium-sized businesses, the improvement of the market economy, the production of high-quality environmentally friendly products, the creation of broad opportunities by the state in this direction.

The key points of the election platform of the candidate for the President of Turkmenistan, Vice-Rector for Scientific Work of the Turkmen State Institute of Physical Culture and Sports, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences Khydyr Nunnaev are the widespread introduction of scientific and technical innovations in all spheres of life, the diversification of the economy based on innovative technological development, the continuation of large-scale modernization of agriculture.

Chairman of the Committee of the Democratic Party of Turkmenistan etrap S.Turkmenbashi Maksat Odeshov in his election program put forward the tasks of accelerated industrialization of the velayats, further development of all sectors of the national economic complex, strengthening production capabilities and increasing economic potential based on innovation.

In the election program of candidate Maksatmyrat Ovezgeldiev, head of the sanitary and epidemiological service of the Babadaikhan etrap of Akhal velayat, the most important priority is the care of people, measures are planned to continue the course for the development of industries.

Director of the “Renewable Energy Sources” Research and Production Center of the State Energy Institute Kakageldi Saryev focused on the development of industry, the effective use of all internal resources, the creation of new jobs, the continuation of reforms to improve all sectors of the economy, as well as education, culture, sports, tourism, social security.

The election campaign in the country was held on a truly democratic basis, in a free, open atmosphere. This allowed candidates for the highest state post to familiarize the electorate in detail with their election programs, and voters to discuss and evaluate them in a discussion atmosphere in order to make an informed and only correct choice.

The monitoring of the presidential elections of Turkmenistan was carried out, in addition to national, by international observers. Representatives of foreign media were also present at polling stations on the day of voting. This is evidence of the ever-increasing role of our Motherland in the international arena, which has led to the high interest of the world community in the most important socio-political event in the life of the Turkmen state.

So, today, on March 12, millions of Turkmen citizens, with their inherent enthusiasm and civic activity, coming to the polling stations have realized their constitutional right.

The national elections of the President of Turkmenistan, becoming the most important milestone in the life of the state and society, eloquently confirmed the triumph of democratic transformations in our country, the determination of the people to continue the progressive movement to new heights of creation and progress.
