The last week’s events have determined the forward prospects for further advancement of our country with a glance to the comprehensive programs realized in Turkmenistan aimed at industrialization, development of high-technological branches of the economy, widespread adoption in industry of innovations and foremost endeavors. The tasks assigned by the head of state Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on achieving high indicators and bringing every sphere of the economic complex to new heights are oriented to further strengthening of the Motherland’s economic power, growth in prosperity of the people.
On February 21, the President of Turkmenistan conducted an online working session to discuss the urgent issues of socioeconomic development of the country and velayats, implementation progress of the seasonal agri-works, as well as the tasks related to realization of national programs and reforms.
Opening the session, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has noted that comprehensive development of strategic partnership with the Russian Federation is known to be one of the priority directions of Turkmenistan’s foreign policy.
On April 8, of the running year, the country will mark the 30th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation.
Having confirmed our country’s intention in the years ahead to strengthen long-term friendly and partnership-based ties with Russia, the head of state has signed an Order on sending the delegation of Turkmenistan to Moscow on February 21-22 of the current year to hold negotiations with the RF Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other structures.
The head of state was also informed about the state of affairs at the new construction objects of the country and Ashgabat. Particular attention was given to construction progress of different objects in the year proclaimed under the motto “Epoch of the people with Arkadag”.
In compliance with the tasks set to the Ministry of industry and construction sector, the work is ongoing on purchasing from the Ministry of industry and new technologies of Tajikistan of 10,000 tons of aluminum (rolled aluminum and aluminum cast blanks) in the frames of the top-level agreement achieved with the Republic of Tajikistan. The within-named raw materials will be used at the state-run enterprise «Nebitmaş» of the core Ministry to manufacture high-quality products highly acclaimed in the construction and other branches of the economy, enterprises and agencies, and the population.
Not the least significant is the state of affairs in the AIC of the country and the preparedness rate to the March-19 mass tree-planting and forestation campaign initiated by the President of Turkmenistan.

On February 23, the leader of nation Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov visited the Akhalteke Equestrian Complex of President of Turkmenistan to see the ‘heavenly’ race horses and then went in for the creative endeavor well attuned to the traditions ranked as the values of world significance.
In the Complex, located in the picturesque place in the Kopetdag foothills, the head of state visited the foal born on January 18 of the running year. That time, in the course of his working trip to the construction site of the new modern administrative center of Akhal velayat, the leader of nation visited the newborn, and at the instance of stableman the head of state named the foal as Zaman to symbolize the start-up of a new epoch in the development of the country.
That same day, an Alabay puppy-dog came into the world, which the head of state named as Eyam in honor of the country’s present era of development proclaimed as “Revival of new epoch of the powerful state”.
The President of Turkmenistan has also visited the race horse Garashsyz, donated to him on behalf of the people in honor of the 30th anniversary of Motherland’s sacred independence in 2021, and made a small horse-ride to enjoy the harmonious spiritual ties and unity between man and his true friend.
A wonderful start of the day filled in with tender aromas of the in-expectation-of-spring nature, the pleasure to watch the touching habits of the foal and puppy-dog and stately tread of the wonderful race horse – one of the best representatives of the ‘heavenly’ horses unsurpassed by innate beauty, endurance, speed and playfulness, intellect – encouraged the head of state for creating of a new book.
Its first pages, which generalize recollections and thoughts, reflections of the life experience, were written in the presidential study in the Complex.
The new book will not only supplement the already written and published works of the leader of nation. It will give strength and inspiration to the people, will be a great spiritual help for achieving great goals enshrined in the historical document “Revival of new epoch of the powerful state: National Program of Turkmenistan’s socioeconomic development in 2022-2052”.
On February 24, a telephone talk was held between President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Executive Director of the “Turkmenistan – USA” Business Center Erik Stuart.
Consideration was given to the plans for cooperation advancement, as well as to the incipient and future interest-based joint projects on the priority directions.
It was recognized that already many years the American companies (members of Business Center) worked successfully at the Turkmen market in the strategically-important sectors. For example, nowadays, high-quality agri-machinery of the ”John Deere” and “Case” companies is actively employed in the fields of our country; the equipment of “General Electric” is widely used in the national power-engineering sphere, “Boeing” jets – in the civil aviation sector of the country.
The leader of nation was also pleased to note availability of huge untapped potential for advancement of the mutuality-based cooperation in such directions as oil/gas sector, renewable energy, chemical and food industries, transport and ecology.
On February 25, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov conducted a regular online session of the Cabinet of Ministers to discuss a number of issues of the state life.
The agenda of session implied: consideration of the results of the financial-economic proficiency certification of staffers and specialists; further development of the national sericulture; rendering of digital services by the State Migration Service; the Cultural Measures Plan for March; preparation for launching of the social-cultural objects; arrangement of the international forum aimed mainly at attraction of foreign investments to the oil/gas branch of Turkmenistan; realization in high-education schools of the country in April-May of the current year of international Olympiads on digital system.
Information was also presented about the activity of the Energy Ministry and «Türkmenhimiýa» State Concern on setting in motion of new capacities in the light of the national economy intensive development and increase of export volumes of energy generated in the country.
At present, the Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Energy Ministry of Turkmenistan and the Asian Development Bank on transfer of the Akhal and Dashoguz state-run power plants from ordinary management to combined control.
Besides, the possibilities are investigated on transfer to combined control of the Lebap power plant (432 MW) built in Charjev etrap by “Sumitomo Corporation” (Japan).
Having considered the proposals on the outcomes of the analytical work accomplished, the head of state has highlighted that the most responsible approach to the environment protection issues, active introduction of the resource-saving, ecology-healthy technologies is an integral condition while implementing large projects in the energy sector and other branches of the national economy.
The President of the country was also familiarized with construction progress of the Ashgabat-Turkmenabat high-speed road.
Having stressed that modernization of the motor transport technical base in tune with high standards of ecology and security is a key aspect of the state policy, the leader of nation focused attention on the coincidence between transport vehicles and climate conditions of our country and their high load-carrying ability.
At the session of the Government, information was presented that in compliance with the presidential assignment, a letter of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov addressed to the Chairman of the Chinese People’s Republic Xi Jinping was conveyed to Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary in Turkmenistan Quan Naicheng.
In the message, gratitude was expressed to the CPR leader for hospitality the delegation of our country was welcomed with in the course of its recent visit to Beijing, as well as for his personal attention to strengthening of the Turkmen-Chinese relations. The head of state has addressed to the CPR Chairman and the entire people of China his heartfelt congratulations on the successful conducting of XXIV Winter Olympics. Having bestowed on the world the unforgettable sporting show, Beijing has become the town, which, first ever in history, hosted Summer and Winter Olympics.
It was also reported on taking measures for practical realization of the agreements achieved by results of top-level negotiations, which were held in the frames of the President of Turkmenistan working visit to the CPR and were of great importance for the upward development of bilateral cooperation on the multi-aspect basis.
Besides, the results were also avowed of the Turkmen delegation visit to the Russian Federation to hold meetings and negotiations on the priority directions of the interstate relations further advancement with a glance to the potential available.
In Moscow, the negotiation process with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia C. Lavrov was centered on a broad range of issues of bilateral cooperation of the strategic character.
In the course of meeting with Chairman of the Federation Council’s International Affairs Committee of the Federal Assembly of Russia G. Karasin, the importance was highlighted of systematic strengthening of constructive inter-parliamentary ties. In this context, consideration was given to the issues related to preparing and conducting in Ashgabat in 2022 of the Inter-Parliamentary Forum of the Central Asian countries and the Russian Federation.
The agenda of visit included also a number of other meetings with Russian partners. Particular interest was evinced in the issues related to cooperation on the Caspian Sea, interactions in the format of the Commonwealth of Independent States. Not the least significant were the issues related to organizing in our country in the current year of VI Caspian Summit and of the CIS observers mission activity at the upcoming on March 12 elections of President of Turkmenistan.
Consultations with the foreign-policy ministries of Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation were also held.
By results of the visit to Moscow and bilateral negotiations, Joint Statement of the MFA Ministers of Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation was adopted on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between the two countries, as well as a number of documents, including the Measures Plan dedicated to the within-named remarkable date, were signed.
Besides, it was reported on the implementation progress of the presidential errands on further advancement of the interest-based business contacts with American partners. The future-orientated directions of bilateral cooperation were considered in the course of the February-24 telephone conversation between President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Executive Director of the “Turkmenistan – USA” Business Center Erik Stuart.

Particular accent was placed on the issues of preparation to the upcoming elections of the President of Turkmenistan and prospects for joint work in the frames of this important social-political campaign with a glance to the solid experience of the within-named UN structure, including introduction into practice of the advanced technologies and innovations. At the same time, consideration was given to the possibilities of establishing multifaceted interaction in this sphere with other international organizations, in the Turkmenistan-UN-OSCE format in particular.
Information was also presented on further advancement of the Turkmen-Kazakh partnership in the context of practical realization of agreements achieved at top level, including the ones achieved by results of the state visit of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan to our country in last year’s October.
The steps undertaken to intensify the productive Turkmen-Turkish interaction in the light of the multi-faceted potential and future-orientated prospects were also broached for discussion.
Recognizing availability of huge potential for productive dialogue with foreign partners with a glance to comprehensive programs ongoing in Turkmenistan, the head of state has exhorted to activate the work of the bilateral Workgroups on trade-economic, scientific-technical and cultural cooperation, as well as to provide systemic contacts with the UN and other international organizations.
At the session, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed the Resolutions on purchasing of equipment and chemicals by «Türkmenhimiýa» State Concern, on production in Turkmenistan in 2022 of 2,300 tons of silkworm cocoons, as well as approved the National Program on turning Turkmenistan into the tobacco-free country in 2022-2025, the Regulations of the State Agency for Road Construction Control, and the Procedure of marking and using zones of bypass railroads.
In pursuance of the Order of the head of state, on the occasion of International Women’s Day, on behalf of the President of Turkmenistan, the women will be presented with 60-manat money gifts.
On February 26, a telephone conversation was held between President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the Turkish Republic Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The Turkmen leader has extended to the head of the friendly state heartfelt congratulations on his birthday and wishes of splendid health, welfare and new successes in all his endeavors and aspirations for the wealth and prosperity of the fraternal people of Turkey.
Having expressed confidence in continuation of the two countries’ course toward strengthening of the many-faceted dialogue in the light of the by-now established advantageous conditions, the interlocutors exchanged congratulations on the remarkable date – the 30th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and the Turkish Republic.

In the frames of “Structural Dialogue” between the foreign-policy departments of Turkmenistan and Great Britain, the necessity was expressed of further intensification of partnership with the reputable international structures, with the UN, OSCE, EC, and others in particular. Speaking of safeguarding stability and security in the region, the sides concentrated attention on consolidation of the sides’ efforts in ensuring welfare, sustainable development of Afghanistan, and on the possibility of Afghanistan’s integration into the large-scale economic, energy and transport-communication projects of regional importance.
The arrangement was achieved on further intensification of bilateral interaction in the sphere of human scale, health, education and science, high technologies and innovatory solutions.
By results of the “Structural Dialogue”, the Memorandum of Understanding was signed between foreign ministries of Turkmenistan and Great Britain.
In the course of telephone talk between Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the Minister of Trade of the Turkish Republic Mehmet Mush the sides discussed the prospects for expanding partnership in the sphere of trade and textile industry. Not the least significant is to activate the contacts between business communities of the two states, advance cooperation in the transport sector, notably in efficient use of transit and transport corridors and air routes for improvement of trade relations of our countries.
On February 26, on behalf of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the capital’s hotel “Garagum” hosted the briefing dedicated to adoption of the “National Program on turning Turkmenistan into the tobacco-free country in 2022-2025” and Measures Plan for implementation of the Program.
The briefing was attended by representatives of Halk Maslakhaty and Mejlis of Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan, chief officials and specialists of the relevant ministries and departments, representatives of diplomatic missions and UN agencies working in Ashgabat, social organizations, members of the Interdepartmental Tobacco Control Coordination Committee, and medical officials.
Having stressed that nowadays Turkmenistan takes leading positions in the WHO European Region and keeps going scale work in this direction, the participants of the meeting extended congratulations to our country on adoption of the within-named National Program and Measures Plan on its implementation.
Last week, the Central Commission on conducting elections and referenda in Turkmenistan (CEC) completed registration of candidates for the Presidency elections, which would be held on March 12 of the current year. At present, next phase of the pre-election campaign is ongoing in the country – meetings of the nominees with electors.
While visiting every velayat of the country, the nominees, in compliance with the Election Code and exercising equal rights and possibilities, hold meetings with electors, make speeches in mass media familiarizing the electorate with key statements of their pre-election platforms and programs.
General Council of the World Trade Organization has unanimously approved Turkmenistan’s application for acceding to the Organization and took a decision on granting to Turkmenistan the status of aligning country (“active observer”) in tune with Article XII of Marrakech Agreement on the WTO establishment. In compliance with the rules of the Organization’s procedures, the status authorizes our country to establish the Workgroup for initiating the WTO membership proceedings.
The event is yet another confirmation of success of the neutral Motherland’s foreign-policy course initiated by the head of state and aimed at the development of equitable mutuality-based cooperation with all interested partners, including the reputable international organizations and structures.
The Ministry of Health and Medical Industry hosted a solemn meeting on the occasion of presenting the health sector with the WHO award as a sign of gratitude and recognition of the meritorious labor of workers of health and social servicing spheres, their inestimable contribution to the cause of health protection and welfare of residents of our country in the context of the State Program “Saglyk” initiated by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and successfully realized in the country.
Proclaimed by the World Health Organization as “International year of medical-social workers”, the past 2021 was hard for physical and mental health of the people all over the world. War against COVID-19 pandemic - a serious threat to the mankind, remains, as before, in the focus of attention of the world community of nations. In this regard, as never before, it is very important to coordinate the efforts and actions in the frames of the WHO.
And the recent presenting of our country with Note of Thanks of the EuroWHO is yet another evidence of recognizing the colossal systematic work Turkmenistan keeps going in the country in the name of health, happiness and well-being of citizens.
Ashgabat hosted in the online format the International Media Forum dedicated to the motto of the year “Epoch of the people with Arkadag” and role of media in the world community in the context of Turkmenistan’s upward development.
The Forum was attended by representatives of the national media community, journalists accredited to our country, scholars and public figures.
The Asian-Pacific Broadcast Union (ABU), “TRT AVAZ”, TASS, Mediacorporation of China “CGTN-Russian”, «Jaheen’s & Click Media» Company, “Mir 24” Information TV Channel, “Senata Sports” International TV Company, and others in the online format joined the discussion of the prospects for further strengthening of cooperation, between media of different countries inclusive.
Highly assessing the level of the by-now interaction in the media area, the Forum participants have noted that in compliance with its foreign-policy course aimed at establishing of friendly trust-based relations with the nations of the planet, Turkmenistan has established with foreign mass media regular exchange with news, reviews, analytical materials about economic, social and cultural-humanitarian life.
It was highlighted that the year’s slogan “Epoch of the people with Arkadag” combines harmoniously the Turkmen nation’s spirit, mentality, moral values and heritage with the present-day innovations and opens the prospects for fast-track development of the country.
The Forum attendees came to general opinion that such meetings was a good opportunity to comprehensively discuss the experience and results achieved in this sphere; they promote strengthening of understanding and enable to outline the directions of further partnership on the basis of common goals.
The technology of using the licorice in food industry was developed in the laboratory of Technology Center of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan. The new licorice-containing food additives were proposed for application in the baked goods manufactured by the Trade Center “Bereketli” of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment Protection. Specialists intend also to add this additive to the mineral water “Berzengi”.
The within-named activity is authorized by the leader of nation in the frames of the common socially-orientated strategy of the state aimed at ensuring wealth and health of Turkmen citizens and observance of international health-protection standards.
