On November 27, at the International airport of the capital President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi who arrived in Turkmenistan for participation in XV Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization.
Presidents of two countries were photographed against the background of National flags of Turkmenistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Having underlined that, consistently putting into practice the foreign policy based on permanently neutral status, Turkmenistan gives particular attention to development of fruitful relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted presence of sound potential for consecutive expansion of effective bilateral partnership based upon successful experience of long-term cooperation in various branches.
During the meeting interlocutors stated activization at the present stage interstate political -diplomatic, economic and cultural links on the basis of principles of equality, mutual respect and good neighbourhood.
The subject of interested exchange of opinions of was the prospect of Turkmen-Iranian cooperation in the trade and economic sphere. The parties confirmed the intention of both countries to promote further activization of productive business contacts, increase in volumes of bilateral goods turnover, which has a progressive character, in stimulation of investment activity.
In the given aspect the significance of activity of the Joint Turkmen-Iranian intergovernmental commission, necessity of more effective involvement of potential of this structure, which acts as one of the important tools of deepening and diversification of mutually beneficial partnership, was marked.
Leaders of two countries were uniform in their opinion that the transit-transport sphere acts among priority directions of interstate cooperation. One of the bright examples of successful combination of general efforts is the transnational railway Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran commissioned into operation in December 2014 and called to promote to optimisation of transport streams in entire Eurasia.
The significance of strengthening of fruitful bilateral humanitarian contacts based on historically developed cultural-spiritual links and acting as the integral component of the Turkmen-Iranian relations in the present period was pointed out.
At the end of the meeting, Presidents Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi confirmed readiness for expansion of the constructive interaction, which are entirely equitable to the state interests, and priorities of social and economic development of friendly neighbouring countries and their peoples.
After performance of hymns of two states, the head of Iran left for the residence designated for him.
